The North Korea women's national handball team represents North Korea in international handball and is controlled by the Handball Association of the DPR Korea. [1]

Contents

North Korea attended for the first time an international competition when they participated at the 2010 Asian Women's Handball Championship, where they finished fifth.

Since 1984 the Korean team has not only participated constantly in Olympic Games but also ranked among the top four nations every time until 2012. Korea grabbed the gold medal in 1988 and 1992, won the silver medal in 1984, 1996, 2004 and took bronze medal in 2008. They have earned two World Championship medals so far: In 1995, they also won the World Championship title in Austria/Hungary 1995 World Women's Handball Championship, they came off third to secure the bronze medal at the Croatia in 2003 World Women's Handball Championship. It is a twelve time Asian Champion, the tournament has been won by any other nation only twice.

The women's handball tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics is being held from August 9 to August 23, at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium and National Indoor Stadium in Beijing. Twelve nations are represented in the women's tournament.

European teams have won every time except 1995 where South Korea won as the first team outside Europe and 2013 where Brazil won as the first American team. The biggest winners are Russia and Norway with four titles each.

The Chinese Taipei women's national handball team is the national team of Chinese Taipei. It is governed by the Chinese Taipei Handball Association and takes part in international handball competitions.

Handball competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, were held from July 24 to August 5. The venue for the competition is the Sports Centre Hall 1 located at the Videna cluster. The venue also hosted judo. A total of eight men's and eight women's teams competed in each tournament. This means a total of 224 athletes are competed.

IHF World Women's Outdoor Handball Championship was the world championship of field handball and was organized by the International Handball Federation in the period 1949-1960.

The Handball Association of the DPR Korea (HADPRK) is the administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball in the North Korea. Founded in 1974, HADPRK is a member of Asian Handball Federation (AHF) and the International Handball Federation (IHF).
