The Northern Region Football (NRF) is an association football organisation, responsible for local growth and development of the game from Northland to South Auckland, New Zealand.

Contents

Previously the Northern Football Federation ran football from Northland down to the North Shore and West Auckland, while the Auckland Football Federation covered the rest of the Auckland region.

In 2019, a joint meeting was held to consider a joint operating model in 2020. [1] Northern Region Football was formed in 2020 [2] [3] and Laura Menzies was appointed as the new organisation's first Chief Executive Officer. [4]

The Northland Rugby Union is the governing body for rugby union in Northland, New Zealand; Northland is a region of New Zealand that covers areas in the districts of Far North, Kaipara, and Whangārei. Established in 1920, they represent the Bunnings NPC side, Northland Taniwha, and Farah Palmer Cup side, Northland Kauri. It is also affiliated with the Blues Super Rugby franchise. The Northern Football Federation (NFF) was an association football organisation, responsible for local growth and developing the game in West Auckland, North Shore and Northland, New Zealand.

The NRF League One is a New Zealand amateur football league. The league is run by Northern Region Football, an amalgamation of the Auckland Football Federation and Northern Football Federation, and includes football clubs located in Northland and Auckland. It comprises half of the fifth tier of football in the northern North Island, alongside the WaiBOP League One. Up until 2022, the competition was known as NRF Championship.

A four-tier alert level restrictions system was in place in during the COVID-19 pandemic in New Zealand between March 2020 and December 2021, with levels 3 and 4 being forms of lockdown. In level 1 there were no restrictions; in level 2 there were limits on gatherings; in level 3 only purposeful travel was allowed and there were strict limits on gatherings; and in level 4 only essential travel was allowed and gatherings were banned.
