Northside Wizards are a basketball club in Brisbane, Queensland, with both men's and women's teams competing in the Australian NBL1 North basketball league. [1]
The club became known as Northside Wizards Basketball in 2005. [2] [3] Originally formed in 1935 as the Brisbane Women's Basketball Club, the club changed its name to Brisbane Men’s and Women’s Basketball in 1951, the Brisbane Community Basketball Association in 1990, and the Brisbane Men’s & Women’s Basketball Association Inc. in 1993. NBL1 is the semi-professional basketball league in Australia, and consists of men's and women's competition across South, North, Central, West and East Conferences. [4] [5] [6] NBL1 North was formerly known as the Queensland Basketball League (QBL), comprising teams across Queensland and Northern Territory. [7] [8] [9]
In 2022, the Northside Wizards Men's team made it to the Semi-Finals where they lost against the Gold Coast Rollers 108-85. [10] [11] Team members included Mitch McCarron, Anthony Drmic, Keanu Pinder, Kevin White, Lual Diing, and Cameron Thew. [12] [13]
In 2022, the Northside Wizards Women's team made it to the Quarter-Finals where they lost against the Brisbane Capitals 81-66. [14] Team members included Tiana Mangakahia, Shyla Heal. [15] [16] Tiana Mangakahia was named 2022 Most Valuable Player, and Shyla Heal was named NBL1 North Youth Women’s Player of the Year. [17] [18]

Adam Matthew Gibson is an Australian former professional basketball player who played 16 years in the National Basketball League (NBL). He made his NBL debut in 2005 and went on to play for five NBL franchises. He is a two-time NBL champion, having won his first in 2007, with the Brisbane Bullets and his second in 2009, with the South Dragons. He is also a five-time All-NBL Team member and was crowned the NBL Best Defensive Player in 2009.
Tiana Cynthia Mangakahia is an Australian former professional basketball player. She began her career with two seasons in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) before playing college basketball in the United States for Syracuse University between 2017 and 2021. After a season in Russia, Mangakahia returned to the WNBL in 2022. She retired in 2023 due to breast cancer.
Darcee Garbin is an Australian professional basketball player for the Goldfields Giants of the NBL1 West.
Jason Robert Cadee is an Australian professional basketball player for the Gold Coast Rollers of the NBL1 North. He is also contracted with the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League (NBL).
Thomas Lachlan Jervis is an Australian professional basketball player for the Rockingham Flames of the NBL1 West. He played college basketball for Bevill State Community College and Troy University in the United States before debuting in the National Basketball League (NBL). He won two NBL championships with the Perth Wildcats between 2013 and 2016. After two seasons with the Brisbane Bullets, Jervis returned to the Wildcats in 2018 and won his third championship. He retired from basketball in 2019 but made a comeback in January 2021 to re-join the Wildcats. Jervis is also well known for his time spent in the State Basketball League (SBL) with the East Perth Eagles, having played for them every year between 2009 and 2016, helping them win their maiden championship in 2014.
Tim Coenraad is an Australian former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Nova Southeastern Sharks before playing 14 seasons in the National Basketball League (NBL) with the Illawarra Hawks. He helped the Hawks reach grand finals in 2010 and 2017 and won Club MVP in 2015.

Jeremy Paul Kendle is an American professional basketball player for the Southland Sharks of the New Zealand National Basketball League (NZNBL). He played three seasons of college basketball for Bellarmine University, becoming the only player in school history to be named to the NABC All-America Team two years in a row. He was also a key member of the Bellarmine Knights' 2011 championship-winning team, helping the school claim their first NCAA Division II National Championship.

Anthony Petrie is an Australian basketball coach and former professional basketball player. He played 11 seasons in the National Basketball League (NBL) between 2007 and 2018. He is currently the head coach of the Gold Coast Rollers in the NBL1 North.

Keanu Tecumseh Pinder is an Australian professional basketball player for Fuenlabrada of the Liga ACB. He is also contracted with the Perth Wildcats of the National Basketball League (NBL). He played college basketball for Hutchinson Community College and the Arizona Wildcats.
Shyla Heal is an Australian professional basketball player for the Townsville Fire of the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL).
Jack McVeigh is an Australian professional basketball player for USC Heidelberg of the Basketball Bundesliga. He is also contracted with the Tasmania JackJumpers of the National Basketball League (NBL).
Kyle Luke Zunic is an Australian professional basketball player for the Northside Wizards of the NBL1 North. He is also contracted with the Perth Wildcats of the National Basketball League (NBL). He played four seasons of college basketball in the United States for the Winthrop Eagles before joining the Wildcats in 2021.
Cameron Tragardh is an Australian former professional basketball player who played 13 seasons in the National Basketball League (NBL). He made his debut in the NBL in 2003 and played for the Townsville Crocodiles, Brisbane Bullets, Wollongong Hawks, Melbourne Tigers, and Cairns Taipans across his career. He was named NBL Most Improved Player in 2008 and NBL Best Sixth Man in 2015. He was also named to the All-NBL Team twice.
Rob Beveridge is an Australian professional basketball coach. After coaching the under-19 Australian Emus at the 2003 World Championship to a gold medal win, he began his National Basketball League (NBL) coaching career in 2007 with the West Sydney Razorbacks. The club re-branded as the Sydney Spirit and then folded; Beveridge subsequently joined the Perth Wildcats in 2009 and won an NBL championship in 2010. After four years, three grand finals and one championship, he left the Wildcats and joined the Illawarra Hawks in 2015. He led the Hawks to a grand final appearance in 2017 and left after four seasons.
The 2023–24 Brisbane Bullets season is the 38th season of the franchise in the National Basketball League (NBL), and their first under the leadership of their new head coach Justin Schueller.
