The Nungua Senior High School is a second cycle institution found in the township of Nungua. The school was setup to educate young graduates who have finished Junior High School (JHS). The school was built by the government of Ghana. [1] [2] [3]
Nungua Senior High School was conceived to be established as the first secondary school in Nungua in the year 1960 by Nii Quaye Tawiah, popularly known as Quaye Nungua, a prominent entrepreneur and significant son of the town. [4]
In that very year, his 15-year-old son, Master Enoch Otu Quaye, who was schooling in Presbyterian Secondary School, Odumase Krobo had to be recalled home and installed a Chief of Nungua. The demand of this new role required that this young Chief would have to stay at Nungua to readily avail himself of Chieftaincy duties. However, the young lad had a great desire for academic honors and insisted that he be allowed to continue and complete his Secondary education. [4]
His father agreed, but rather than sending him back to Krobo Odumase to continue his schooling, he decided to establish a local Secondary School at Nungua where his son could pursue his academic studies and also be readily available for chieftaincy affairs and duties. Within two years of his resolve, Quaye Nungua had converted into a Secondary School, his multi-unit building complex on his then large residential compound, equipped with its own generator which was the only one in the town then. Thus began the journey of the first secondary school ever to be established in the Nungua Township. [4]

Aaron Mike Oquaye is a Ghanaian barrister and politician who served as the sixth Speaker of Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana from 2017 to 2021. An academic, diplomat and Baptist minister, he previously held the cabinet ministerial portfolios for energy and communication and was also the High Commissioner of Ghana to India (2002–04) in the Kufuor administration.
Presbyterian Boys' Secondary School (PRESEC) is a secondary boarding school for boys, it is located in Legon, Accra, Ghana. It was founded in 1938, under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church of the Gold Coast. The Basel missionary-theologian, Nicholas Timothy Clerk (1862–1961), who served as the first Synod Clerk of the Presbyterian Church of the Gold Coast from 1918 to 1932, used his tenure to advocate for the establishment of the secondary school. The school has ties with its sister schools, Aburi Girls' Senior High School and Krobo Girls Senior High School.

Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary, is an all-boys boarding school, located at Effiduase, Koforidua, in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It was established in 1958 by Bishop Joseph Oliver Bowers SVD as a Catholic seminary for boys who wished to become priests. Students are offered courses such as general arts, general science, business and visual arts to pursue and after their stay in the school, sit an external examination called the West African Senior School Certificate Examination to be placed in any of the tertiary institutions in the country.
Krobo Odumase is a town and capital of Lower Manya Krobo Municipal District in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The Presbyterian Boys' Senior High School was formerly located here.
The Presbyterian Secondary School, Osu was established in 1956 in one of the Old Basel Missionary Buildings at the foot of Kuku Hill of Osu. The motives of establishing the school are: 1. To offer Presbyterian Day Secondary education to children in Osu 2. To have a Secondary School at Osu in compensation for lack of a boarding school at Osu. It was seriously considered that the seat of the Basel Mission and Presbyterianism needed a higher school. The church and some individual educators teamed up to establish the school, with Mr. Cleland Armah as the first Headmaster of the school. In 1963, the school was absorbed into the public system under a new headmaster, Mr. McCarthy. He renovated the Old Basel Mission building into a school building accommodating two streams of classrooms, library, administration office and science laboratories. The Church offered the present site for the school. At the moment, the school has only an eighteen (18)-unit classroom block and three storey Science block which accommodate the staff of the school. Currently, the school has benefited from the GETFund, and new classroom blocks are being put up to accommodate the many students who continue to seek academic progress here.

Nicholas Timothy Clerk was a Ghanaian academic, administrator and Presbyterian minister who served as the Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) from 1977 to 1982. He was also the vice-chairman of the Public Services Commission of Ghana. Clerk chaired the Public Services Commission of Uganda from 1989 to 1990.
Yendi Senior High School(YESS) is coeducational secondary school at Yendi in the Northern Region of Ghana. The school was established in 1970, first as middle boarding school to enable access to basic education for communities in the Eastern Corridor enclave before it was upgraded in September same year to the status of a secondary school. For the first academic year, the school had only 77 total student population with 70 boys and seven girls. The first headmaster of the school was Cletus Bernard Teviu. He headed the school for nearly a decade spanning between 1970 and 1979 and one of the hostels in the school has been named in his honour. In the year 2020 when the school celebrated its 50 years anniversary, total student population was 2,724 and number of teachers were 121. The school operates as a boarding school but few attend as day students.

Oklemekuku, Nene Azzu Mate Kole II,, known in private life as Frederick Lawer Mate Kole was a Ghanaian paramount chief and statesman who served as the fourth monarch or king, Konor of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area in southeastern Ghana and reigned from 1939 to 1990.
Nene Sakite II is the fifth and reigning Konor, or paramount chief, of the Manya Krobo, enstooled in 1999. His predecessor was Azzu Mate Kole II, who ruled Manya Krobo from 1939 until his death in 1990. There was an interregnum in Manya Krobo between 1990 and 1999 due to chieftaincy succession disputes.
