Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun (born 16 December 1950) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Narsingdi-4 constituency which encompasses Belabo and Manohardi upazilas. He is also a former Minister of Industries from 2019 until 2024. [1]
Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun was born on 16 December 1950 to a Bengali Muslim family in Dacca,East Bengal (now Bangladesh). His father,Mohammad Abdul Majid,was an honorary magistrate and the former president of the Bengal Union Board. The family's origins lie in the Baganbari of Gotashia in Monohardi,Narsingdi. His mother,Noor Begum,was a housewife. [2]
Humayun completed his secondary education at the St. Gregory's High School in 1967,and then studied at the Dacca College. He graduated from the University of Dacca with an MSS in political science and an LLB. [3]
Humayun was elected to parliament from Narsingdi-4 in 2008 and 2014 as a candidate of the Bangladesh Awami League. [4] He was the chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Commerce (Bangladesh) and the ex-chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Expatriates’Welfare and Overseas Employment. [5] In November 2017,he was part of Bangladesh Awami League delegation to China. [6]
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a major political party in Bangladesh. Founded on 1 September 1978 by the late Bangladeshi president Ziaur Rahman,with a view to uniting people with a nationalist ideology,BNP later became one of the two dominant parties in Bangladesh,along with its archrival Awami League. Initially a big tent centrist party,it later moved towards more right-wing politics.
Nurul Amin was a Pakistani politician and jurist who served as the eighth prime minister of Pakistan from 7 December to 20 December 1971. His term of only 13 days as prime minister was the shortest served in Pakistani parliamentary history. He was also the only vice president of Pakistan.

The East Pakistan Provincial Assembly,known as the East Bengal Legislative Assembly between 1947 and 1955,was the provincial legislature of East Pakistan between 1947 and 1971. It was known as the East Bengal Assembly from 1947 to 1955 when the provincial name was changed. Belabo is an upazila of the Narsingdi District of Bangladesh,located in the Dhaka Division. Here the 2,500-year-old civilisation of Wari-Bateshwar has been discovered. It is believed that it was a port city with foreign trade with Ancient Rome,Southeast Asia and other regions. It is the oldest city so far discovered after Indus Valley civilisation. Though part of Narsingdi,the Bengali dialect spoken by the people of Belabo is similar to that of Greater Mymensingh.
Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim is a Bangladeshi politician who was a 8-term Member of Parliament representing the Gopalganj-2 constituency during 1986–2024. He is a Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League. He also served as the Minister of Health and Family Welfare during 1999–2001.
Hasan Mahmud is a Bangladesh Awami League politician. He was Minister of Foreign Affairs in Fourth Hasina Cabinet in 2024.
