Nuzhat Parveen Khan (born 4 July 1964) is an Indian academician and author who served as the dean of Bennett University's School of Law. [1] She has formerly served as the dean of Jamia Millia Islamia's Faculty of Law and is now a professor at the university. [2] She has authored dozen of books including Women and Child related Laws, Comparative Constitutional Law and Globalisation of Professional Legal Education Constitutional Conspectus. [3]
Khan graduated from the Lucknow University with a BSc in Chemistry. She received an LL.B and an LL.M degree from the Aligarh Muslim University. [2] She completed her doctoral studies at the Jamia Millia Islamia.
She was born in Pilibhit city and her father's name was Mohammad Suleman. Dr. Nuzhat has two children, both are working in the United States. [2]
Khan practiced as an advocate in 1989 before moving to academics. She joined the Faculty of Law of the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) in 1992 as assistant professor. She was promoted to associate professor in 2008 and then a professor in 2013. [2] She served as the dean of the JMI's Faculty of Law from 2016 to 2019. During her deanship, the faculty secured first rank among the law schools in India, in a ranking done by India Today in 2017 . [4]
She has featured in Higher Education Digest December 2021, where she talks about School of Law, Bennett University mentioned as one of the Top Law Colleges in the country. [5] She has recently featured in the prestigious list of India's 20 Pragmatic Women Leader (Higher Education) 2022 published by The Academic Insights inspiring minds. [6] She was also featured in the prestigious list of 100 Inspiring Muslim Women from Uttar Pradesh, India under the theme "Rising Beyond the Ceiling" published by Inspiring Indian Muslim Women for her contribution in the field of academics. [7] She was awarded Best Academician of the Year 2021 by the Centre for Education Growth and Research 8th Higher Education Summit Cum 16th Rashtriya Shiksha Gauray Puraskar Ceremony 2021 on 30 December 2021 [8]
As of 2021, Parveen serves as the dean of Bennett University's School of Law. [9] She has worked on a project for the Ministry of Women and Child Development, titled, A Study of Discriminative and Derogatory Practices against Women by Khap Panchayats, Kangaroo Courts and Shalishi Adalats in India: An Empirical Study in the States of Haryana, Rajasthan, Western U.P. and West Bengal. The project report was also presented before the Parliament of India in 2014 and was appreciated. [10]

Jamia Millia Islamia is a central university located in New Delhi, India. Originally established at Aligarh, United Provinces during the British Raj in 1920, it moved to its current location in Okhla in 1935. It was given the deemed status by University Grants Commission in 1962. On 26 December 1988, it became a central university.

Jamiat ul Mominat is an Islamic female seminary, located in Hyderabad, India. It provides education to girls only. It has a Darul Ifta—(a department of legal ruling under Islamic jurisdiction) or generally collegium of muftis—where the girls are trained to become muftis. Mohammad Zahid Ashraf is an Indian biotechnologist and a professor at Jamia Millia Islamia. Known for his studies on thrombosis experienced at high altitudes. Ashraf is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India and Indian Academy of Sciences, and an elected member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences. The Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India awarded him the National Bioscience Award for Career Development, one of the highest Indian science awards, for his contributions to biosciences, in 2017–18.
Najma Akhtar is an Indian academic and academic administrator. Since April 2019, she has been the Vice Chancellor of the Jamia Millia Islamia, an Indian university. She is also the first woman to hold the post in JMI.

Abdul Lateef Azmi was an Urdu litterateur and among the close associates of the founders of Jamia Millia Islamia. He joined Jamia Millia as a student of B.A. in 1936 and served the university over 50 years in various capacities. He was one of the longest serving editors of Jamia Millia's official magazine, Jamia. He died in Delhi on May 11, 2002. In 1985, Maktaba Jamia, New Delhi, published a book Abdul Lateef Azmi Hayat-o-Khidmat. Several scholars contributed chapters in the book on various facets of Abdul Lateef Azmi and his life.
