I Nyoman Nuarta (born 14 November 1951) is an Indonesian sculptor and artist who created a number of monuments across Indonesia.
His "most ambitious and notable" work was the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue in Bali's GWK Park, completed in 2018. [1] Officiated by president Joko Widodo, the statue stands 121 meters tall and weighs over 4,000 tonnes; [2] at the time of its creation, it was the tallest statue of a Hindu deity and it is currently the tallest statue in Indonesia.
Other works include the Jalesveva Jayamahe Monument in Surabaya; and the Indonesian Proclamation Monument in Proclamation Park, his first major work. [3]
The Linda Gallery claims Nuarta's work "[reflects] on important Balinese life philosophies." [2] He is a member of the International Sculpture Center in the US the Royal Society of Sculptors in the UK.[ citation needed ]

Nyoman Nuarta was born in Tabanan, Bali [4] [5] on November 14, 1951. [6] [7] [4] [5] Nyoman Nuarta is the sixth son of nine children from the couple Wirjamidjana and Samudra.[ citation needed ] He spent his childhood in the village of Tegallinggah, Bali. [3]
Nuarta was raised by his uncle, Ketut Dharma Susila,[ citation needed ] an art teacher and Kelihan Adat (village chief). [3]
In the early 1970s, Nuarta travelled to the city of Bandung, West Java to receive an arts education. [3] In 1972, he enrolled in the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) of the Bandung Institute of Technology. [3] He graduated circa 1979 with a degree in fine arts. [8]
He joined the Indonesian New Art Movement while an ITB student in 1977. [3] In 1979, shortly before his graduation, he won the Proclamation Monument Contest held in celebration of Indonesian Independence Day; his monument stands in Proclamation Park. [3] Following this, "Nuarta was appointed to build the statue of Sukarno, the founding father and first president of Indonesia." [3]
In 2000, Nuarta opened NuArt Sculpture Park, a 4-hectare sculpture park in Bandung, West Java privately owned and managed by Nuarta. [3] It displays a variety of his works and houses a custom 4-story building used for exhibitions and meeting rooms. [3]
In 2011, he designed the Indonesian Basketball League Championship Trophy, which was 22 by 22 centimeters wide with a height of 48 cm and a weight of 22 kg, made of copper and plated in 22 karat gold. [9]
In 2018, the Indian government bestowed Nuarta with the Padma Award. [2]

I Gusti Ketut Pudja was an Indonesian politician and national hero, who served as the first governor of Lesser Sunda from 1945 until 1946. He was also present at Admiral Tadashi Maeda's house, during the preparation for the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence on 17 August 1945. The Jalesveva Jayamahe Monument is a monument located in Semampir, Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia near the Port of Tanjung Perak. It is a statue of an Indonesian Navy officer wearing a Ceremonial Service Dress, complete with his sword of honor. The officer is depicted staring into the ocean, looking as if he is challenging the tides. It is meant to represent the preparedness of the Indonesian Navy for any scenario. The statue stands at a height of 60.6 meters (199ft), about the same as the adjacent building. The Jalesveva Jayamahe Monument represents the nation's future generation's optimism toward the accomplishment of the Indonesian dream.
Edhi Sunarso, born Sunarso, was an Indonesian sculptor and public artist known for numerous well-known monuments and landmarks found throughout Jakarta, including the Selamat Datang Monument and Dirgantara statue, also called the Pancoran Monument, in Pancoran, South Jakarta. He taught sculpture at Yogyakarta State University and the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue is a 121-meter tall statue located in Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, Bali, Indonesia. It was designed by Nyoman Nuarta and inaugurated in September 2018. The total height of the monument, including the 46-meter base pedestal is 121 m (397 ft). The statue was designed to be Indonesia’s tallest statue, and is inspired by an event that finds its roots in Hinduism about Garuda's search for Amrita, the elixir of life. According to this story, Garuda agreed to be ridden by Vishnu in return for the right to use the elixir to liberate his enslaved mother. The monument was completed on 31 July 2018 and inaugurated by Indonesian President Joko Widodo on 22 September 2018. It is the tallest statue of a Hindu deity and the tallest statue in Indonesia.
Buda script, Aksara Buda, or Gunung script is an archaic script. Based on its shape, the Buda Script still has a close relationship with the Kawi script. This script was previously used on the island of Java and Bali. This type of script is called the Buda script because it is considered to have originated from the pre-Islamic era which is called the Buddhist Age. The word Buda is based on the Buddha word. Manuscripts containing writing using the Buda script are commonly found in mountainous areas. Because of that, this type of script is also called the "Mountain script".

The statues of Sukarno and Hatta, the founding fathers of Indonesia, are the main highlight of the Kusuma Bangsa Park, symbolizing the sacred spirit of Indonesia's independence and unification. Kusuma Bangsa Park was first officially opened to the public on 17 August 2024, in accordance with the 79th Indonesian Independence Day celebration.
