Obafemi Oluwole Onashile (born August 1964) is a Nigerian Quantity Surveyor, the founding partner of the Quantity Surveying firm Consol Associates located in Nigeria, Ghana and Rwanda. He is the past President of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS). [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] He is the a past President of the African Institute of Quantity Surveyors. Background

Obafemi was born at Jericho Nursing Home, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria to a family that hails from Ogun State, southwest Nigeria. He grew up in Oke Ado, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. His father, Folarin Onashile, was a well read lawyer, one of the first of the profession to be trained in the United Kingdom, and he rose to be the chief judge of Ogun State High Court and his mother, Esther Olayide Onashile, was a business woman and building contractor. Obafemi was the seventh child in his family of nine children. [2]

Education

Obafemi had his primary education at Ebenezer Church Primary School, Oke Ado, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria in 1975. In 1980, he completed his secondary education at Federal Government College Odogbolu and he had his bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying at the University of Ife now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife in 1986. He then went on to obtain a master's degree in Project Management at the University of Lagos in 2007. [2] [5]

Career

In 1986, Obafemi started his career during his National Youth Service Corps at the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport, Minna, Niger State, Nigeria. His professional training started at Tillyards & Partners, Kaduna in 1987. He then joined Group Q Associates, Lagos in 1988 there he worked till 1992. In November 2017, Obafemi became the President of Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) until 2019 when he handed over to Mohammed Abba Tor. On 20 October 2020, He was elected and became the 8th President of the African Association of Quantity Surveyors (AAQS) the umbrella body of all the institutions of Quantity Surveyors in Africa [13] [14] [2] Obafemi started Consol Associates as a Principal Partner after leaving Group Q Associates, Lagos. He leads the management of the Lagos office. [2] [15] [5]

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is a federal university in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. The university was founded in 1961 and classes commenced in October 1962 as the University of Ife by the regional government of Western Nigeria, which was led by Samuel Ladoke Akintola. It was renamed "Obafemi Awolowo University" on 12 May 1987, so by the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida led military administration, in honour of Obafemi Awolowo (1909–1987), the first premier of the Western Region of Nigeria, who initially thought of the idea of establishing the university.

Chief Ògúnwán̄dé "Wán̄dé" Abím̄bọ́lá is a Nigerian academician, a professor of Yoruba language and literature, and a former vice-chancellor of the University of Ife. He has also served as the Majority Leader of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Chief Abimbola was installed as Àwísẹ Awo Àgbàyé in 1981 by the Ooni of Ife on the recommendation of a conclave of Babalawos of Yorubaland.

Ado-Odo is the metropolitan headquarters of the ancient kingdom of Ado, renowned for its Oduduwa/Obatala temple, the ancient fortress of the traditional practice of Ifá. Oodu'a is also regarded by traditionalists as the mother of all other deities. All of these made Ado an inviolate territory in western Yorubaland—the same "father-figure" status accorded to Ile-Ife. Unlike the other kingdoms, which had at one time or the other engaged in the internecine wars that ravaged Yorubaland in the nineteenth century, Ado stood out as an unconquered sanctuary city-state throughout the period.

Olukayode Ariwoola is a Nigerian jurist and justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria who served as the chief justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 2022 to 2024. He was formerly a justice of the Nigerian courts of appeal and on 22 November 2011, he was appointed to the bench of the supreme court of Nigeria. He was appointed substantive chief justice of Nigeria on 27 June 2022 following the resignation of former chief justice Tanko Muhammad and formally confirmed chief justice by the Nigerian Senate on 21 September 2022.

Cyril Agodi Onwumechili was a Nigerian physicist, academic administrator, and professor of geophysics at the University of Ibadan and later University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He was the fourth Vice Chancellor of the University of Ife from January 1979 to December 1982 and the former President/Vice Chancellor of the Anambra State University of Technology, Enugu, Nigeria, from January 1983 to December 1986. He delivered the Ahiajoku lecture on 20 November 2000. He was the first Nigerian geophysicist and the second president of the Nigerian Academy of Science. He was elected as president of the Academy in 1979 to succeed Professor Victor Adenuga Oyenuga, the first emeritus professor of the University of Ibadan and the first African professor of Agricultural science.

Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Shittu (born 23 March 1953) is Nigerian lawyer and politician who served as minister of communications of Nigeria from 2015 to 2019. Before becoming minister, he had earlier served as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, becoming the youngest Honourable member at age 26, to take the office.

Oluwole Busayo Oke is a Nigerian businessman, administrator, economist and politician who is serving in the 8th and current House of Representatives. He is the chairman committee on Public Account at the Nigerian House of Representatives representing Obokun/Oriade federal constituency of Osun State under the People's Democratic Party in Nigeria.

Richard Olufemi Bamisile is a Nigerian politician and current member of the Federal House of Representatives for Ekiti South II Constituency. The Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) is the professional umbrella body for quantity surveyors in Nigeria. It is one of the two major bodies associated with the profession in the country. The other is Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN), which is the regulatory body of the quantity surveying profession and practice in Nigeria. It was established by Decree No. 31 of December 5, 1986, now CAP Q1 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) 2004.

'Dayo Adedayo is a British-trained Nigerian documentary photographer, cultural anthropologist, and author. He is the author of Nigeria 2.0, a book that documents the story behind many important places in Nigeria. Within a space of 17 years, Adedayo has travelled and documented 36 states in Nigeria.

Seun Fakorede is a Nigerian entrepreneur, speaker and politician. At 27, he became the youngest commissioner in Nigeria's history when he was appointed Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State in August 2019 to July 2021. Seun was reappointed on October 11, 2021. He is the founder and director of non-profit Home Advantage Africa where he advocates for African patriotism among youths.

Gbemisola Adeoti is a Nigerian academic and poet. He is a professor of literature in the English Department at Obafemi Awolowo University. He is the author of Naked Soles which was at a time recommended by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board. Between 2011 and 2015, he served as the Director of the Institute of Cultural Studies, and he was the Dean of the Faculty of Arts from 2015 to 2019 at OAU.
