The Obeah Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually in mid June at Delaware Park Racetrack in Stanton, Delaware. Formerly a Grade III event, it is contested on dirt at a previous distance of a mile and an eighth (9 furlongs). The race is now one and one-sixteenth miles and permits horses three years and older to compete. [1]
The race is named in honor of Jane du Pont Lunger's filly, Obeah, winner of the Delaware Handicap in 1969 and 1970.
After a nine-month layoff, the filly Unbridled Belle ran second in the 2007 Obeah, won the 2008 edition by nearly six lengths and at age six, won the 2009 race by eleven lengths.

The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies is a 1+1⁄16-mile thoroughbred horse race on dirt for two-year-old fillies run annually since 1984 at a different racetrack in the United States or Canada as part of the Breeders' Cup World Championships in early November.

She is the only European-trained horse to have won more than ten Group One races. Trained by Freddy Head, Goldikova is the only horse to have won three Breeders' Cup Mile races. She was ridden by Olivier Peslier in all of her races.
Rachel Alexandra is a retired American Thoroughbred racehorse and the 2009 Horse of the Year. When she won the 2009 Preakness Stakes, the second leg of the Triple Crown, she became the first filly to win the race in 85 years. She also won races in six states, on eight different tracks, against fillies and Grade 1 colts and older horses, achieving a long string of consecutive wins including numerous Grade 1 stakes. Rachel Alexandra neared or broke multiple stakes records, track records and winning margin records throughout her career. On September 28, 2010, owner Jess Jackson announced Rachel Alexandra's retirement. She was bred to 2007–2008 Horse of the Year Curlin and delivered a colt on January 22, 2012.
Sea The Stars is a retired champion Irish Thoroughbred racehorse regarded as one of the greatest racehorses of all time. He won the 2000 Guineas, the Derby, the Eclipse Stakes – the first colt to accomplish this treble since 1989 champion Nashwan – the International Stakes, the Irish Champion Stakes and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in the same year. Sea The Stars is also a successful sire. His progeny have won classic races including the Derby, Irish Derby, and the Oaks.

Jane du Pont Lunger was an American heiress, philanthropist, and an owner/breeder of Thoroughbred racehorses. A sixth-generation member of Delaware's prominent Du Pont family, her father, Philip Francis du Pont, was a major benefactor to the University of Virginia.
Havre de Grace was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who was bred in Kentucky and was 2011 American Horse of the Year. During her racing career, she was owned by Fox Hill Farms and trained by J. Larry Jones. Her sire was the 2005 American Horse of the Year, Saint Liam. Her dam was the mare Easter Bunnette, a daughter of Carson City. Her name derived from the city and racetrack of Havre de Grace, Maryland.
Look Here was a British Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare best known for winning the 2008 Epsom Oaks. In a racing career which lasted from October 2007 to October 2009 the filly ran nine times and won two races. After winning her only race as a two-year-old, Look Here finished second on her three-year-old debut. She then won the Classic Oaks over one and a half miles at Epsom, in which she was a 33/1 outsider. Look Here never won another race, but finished third in the St Leger Stakes, Coronation Cup and Pretty Polly Stakes.
Oratorio is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. As a two-year-old in 2004 he won four of his seven races including the Anglesey Stakes, Futurity Stakes and Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère as well as finishing second in the Phoenix Stakes and the Dewhurst Stakes. He showed his best form when tried over a mile and a quarter in 2005, when he defeated strong international fields in the Eclipse Stakes and the Irish Champion Stakes, beating The Derby winner Motivator on both occasions. He was retired to stud at the end of 2005 and has had some success as a sire of winners.
Proud Spell is an American Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. As a two-year-old in 2007 she was rated one of the best juvenile fillies in the United States, winning her first three races including the Matron Stakes before finishing second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. She was even more successful in her second season, winning four races including the Fair Grounds Oaks, Kentucky Oaks, Delaware Oaks and Alabama Stakes. She was retired from racing after a single unsuccessful appearance as a four-year-old.
Songbird is a retired US Hall of Fame Thoroughbred racehorse who was a two-time Eclipse Award winner. She won thirteen times, nine of them in Grade I races, and had career earnings of almost $4.7 million.
Latice was an Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. As a two-year-old in 2003 she showed great promise by winning her first race and then taking the Group 3 Prix de Condé against male opposition. In the following spring she won the Prix Vanteaux before recording her biggest victory in the Prix de Diane but was unplaced in three subsequent starts that year. In 2005 she was campaigned in North America where she won the Waya Stakes and running second in the E. P. Taylor Stakes. She won one minor race in 2006 before being retired from racing at the end of the year. As a broodmare she had some success as a dam of winners.
