A scar is an area of fibrous tissue that replaces normal skin after an injury. Scars result from the biological process of wound repair in the skin, as well as in other organs and tissues of the body. Thus, scarring is a natural part of the healing process. With the exception of very minor lesions, every wound results in some degree of scarring. An exception to this are animals with complete regeneration, which regrow tissue without scar formation.
Healing is the process of the restoration of health from an unbalanced, diseased, damaged or unvitalized organism.
Vitrectomy is a surgery to remove some or all of the vitreous humor from the eye.

Astrogliosis is an abnormal increase in the number of astrocytes due to the destruction of nearby neurons from central nervous system (CNS) trauma, infection, ischemia, stroke, autoimmune responses or neurodegenerative disease. In healthy neural tissue, astrocytes play critical roles in energy provision, regulation of blood flow, homeostasis of extracellular fluid, homeostasis of ions and transmitters, regulation of synapse function and synaptic remodeling. Astrogliosis changes the molecular expression and morphology of astrocytes, causing scar formation and, in severe cases, inhibition of axon regeneration.
Scalpelling is a body art procedure similar to body piercing for the creation of decorative perforations through the skin and other body tissue, and is most commonly used as a replacement for or enhancement of ear piercing. Whereas piercing is typically performed with a hollow piercing needle or an ear piercing instrument, scalpelling is performed by using a scalpel to cut a slit into the skin. Unlike dermal punching, no flesh is removed. The technique can immediately produce holes with a larger diameter than can be achieved by piercing. This is a more rapid means of accommodating larger gauge jewellery than stretching, a technique whereby piercings are enlarged by inserting gradually larger jewellery. Scalpelling is performed to quickly achieve a large-gauge piercing, when scar tissue is preventing further stretching, if tissue has thinned to the point where further stretching could cause it to break, or to combine two closely placed piercings into one hole.
"Scar Tissue" is the first single from the American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers' seventh studio album Californication, released in 1999. It is one of their most successful songs, spending a then-record 16 consecutive weeks atop the US Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart as well as 10 weeks atop the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, and it reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. It was also successful in Iceland, New Zealand and Canada, reaching numbers one, three and four, respectively. In the United Kingdom, it charted at number 15 on the UK Singles Chart.
Scar Tissue is the autobiography of Red Hot Chili Peppers vocalist Anthony Kiedis. Philip John Clapp, known professionally as Johnny Knoxville, is an American actor, stunt performer, filmmaker, and comedian. He is best known as a co-creator and star of the MTV reality stunt show Jackass, which aired for three seasons from 2000–2002. Regeneration in humans is the regrowth of lost tissues or organs in response to injury. This is in contrast to wound healing, or partial regeneration, which involves closing up the injury site with some gradation of scar tissue. Some tissues such as skin, the vas deferens, and large organs including the liver can regrow quite readily, while others have been thought to have little or no capacity for regeneration following an injury.

Scar Tissue were an American electro-industrial group formed in Oakland, California, United States with Philip Caldwell and Steve Watkins forming the band's creative nucleus. They released three albums for 21st Circuitry: Separator (1996), TMOTD (1997) and Rebuild (1998). After a ten year hiatus Scar Tissue reunited in 2008 to release the dark electronic album Potential, which they followed up on two years later with 2010's Obscurity.
Separator is the debut studio album of Scar Tissue, released on August 13, 1996 by 21st Circuitry. It contained mostly tracks recorded for the demo the band recorded previous to joining the label. The band's former lead singer departed before recording sessions for the album began.
TMOTD is the second studio album by Scar Tissue, released on April 15, 1997 by 21st Circuitry.
Rebuld is a remix album by Scar Tissue, released on May 19, 1998 by 21st Circuitry. It contains four new compositions as well as remixes and live versions of tracks from Separator and TMOTD. The picture on the album's front was designed by musician and sound engineer Nathan Moody, who illustrated covers for the band's previous 21st Circuitry releases.
Potential is the fourth studio album by Scar Tissue, released independently on October 10, 2008. It was released after a ten year hiatus the band went on after the release of their 1998 remix album Rebuild.
Form/Alkaline is the fourth studio album by Scar Tissue, released independently on February 1, 2008. Formerly it had been self-released after 21st Circuitry Records dissolved in 2002 and then re-released as a digital download in 2008.
