OffsideOpen is a jazz festival in Germany.

The OffsideOpen International New Music Festival Gelderland, also known as Offside Festival, was a jazz festival in the German-Dutch border region. It was founded by Burkhard Hennen in 2007, and then took place again in 2008.

The three day festival in August was organizationally supported by the cities of Geldern, Straelen, as well as the dutch city of Arcen. The festival was financed by donations from private donors. Burkhard Hennen, founder and artistic director of the Moers Festival from 1972 to 2005, had a vision for a new type of festival.^[1] For example, instead of having fast food stands, like at the Moers Festival, volunteers served food from the Lower Rhine region.^[2] The 200+ volunteers help with the infrastructure and logistics of the festival, which helped Hennen in making his decision to support this specific festival out of all other initiatives.^[3]

From the 17th to the 19th of August, the festival took place on three different stages. More than 200 international musicians took part in the cross-border concert. A special attraction was the 40 or so membered Shibusashirazu Orchestra from Japan, who Henne had discovein Yokohama. The ensemble started off their European tour at the Offside Festival, additionally they stayed in the area for 5 days and held concerts, including one at a local school.

Hennen asked for the next festival to take place at a later date, because he was having difficulties with the finances. ^[4] However, the other organizations were in favor of a yearly festival. For this reason, Hennen stepped down from his position of artistic director in July 2008, so Rainer Hannsen was appointed to fill this position. They then changed the name from OffsideOpen (Hennen's name) to Offside. Offside 2008 took place from 22nd to 24th of August on Holländer See with Gunter Hampel, Klaus Doldinger, Jazzkantine, Mars Williams, among many other musicians. The festival was no longer able to continue the following years due to many sponsors dropping out.

The Holland Festival is the oldest and largest performing arts festival in the Netherlands. It takes place every June in Amsterdam. It comprises theatre, music, opera and modern dance. In recent years, multimedia, visual arts, film and architecture were added to the festival roster.

The Musique Cordiale International Festival & Academy is an annual festival of classical music, song, oratorio and opera, founded in 2005. It usually* takes place in hill towns of the Pays de Fayence between Nice and Aix-en-Provence in the South of France in late July and during the first two weeks of August. The festival features up to 18 concerts including major choral and orchestral works, chamber ensembles, free lunchtime concerts and late night recitals in churches, chapels and in the open air.. This pattern of concerts only in Britain was repeated in 2022 with an additional concert on 4 June 2022 in Doddington Place Gardens to commemorate the Queen's 70th Jubilee. Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz Festival is a music festival in Ann Arbor, Michigan, that started in 1972 from the Ann Arbor Blues Festival, which itself began in 1969. Although the festival has had a tumultuous history and suspended operations in 2006, it was restarted in 2017.

The Moers Festival is an annual international music festival in Moers, Germany. The festival has changed from concentrating on free jazz to including world and pop music, though it still invites many avant-garde jazz musicians. Performers at Moers include Lester Bowie, Fred Frith, Jan Garbarek, Herbie Hancock, Abdullah Ibrahim, David Murray, Sun Ra, Archie Shepp, and Cecil Taylor. The festival is officially named "mœrs festival" with lowercase letters.

Reiner Michalke is the artistic director of the concert venue Stadtgarten in Cologne/Germany. From 2005 to 2016 he served as artistic director of the Moers Festival. Since October 2018 he is managing artistic director of the Monheim Triennale.
