Okay Temiz (born 11 February 1939, Istanbul, Turkey) [1] is a Turkish fusion jazz percussionist and drummer.
Temiz was influenced in his early years by his mother, Naciye, who was classically schooled in music. [1] Temiz started playing professionally in 1955, [1] studying at the Ankara Conservatory and at the Tophane Art Institute. After meeting Maffy Falay and Don Cherry, he settled in Sweden. With Cherry and bassist Johnny Dyani he toured US and Europe in 1971. In 1972, he founded the band Xaba with Dyani and trumpeter Mongezi Feza. [1]
His drums are of his own invention, and are constructed using hand-beaten copper, in the style of Turkish debuka's. [1]

Johnny Mbizo Dyani was a South African jazz double bassist, vocalist and pianist, who, in addition to being a key member of The Blue Notes, played with such international musicians as Don Cherry, Steve Lacy, David Murray, Finnish guitar player Jukka Syrenius, Pierre Dørge, Peter Brötzmann, Mal Waldron, fellow South African Dollar Brand, and Leo Smith, among many other prominent players.
The Blue Notes were a South African jazz sextet, whose definitive line-up featured Chris McGregor on piano, Mongezi Feza on trumpet, Dudu Pukwana on alto saxophone, Nikele Moyake on tenor saxophone, Johnny Dyani on bass, and Louis Moholo-Moholo on drums. After moving away from their home country in 1964, they established themselves on the European jazz circuit, where they continued to play and record through the 1970s. They are now considered one of the great free jazz bands of their era, whose music was given a unique flavour by their integration of African styles such as Kwela into the progressive jazz ideas of the time.

Hepsi Hit Vol. 1 is the twelfth studio album by Turkish singer Hande Yener. It was released on 6 June 2016 by Poll Production. After releasing Mükemmel in 2014, Yener started to collect songs for her upcoming projects, and in mid 2015 she announced that different pieces for her new album were ready and set to be released at an appropriate time. In the early 2016, the title of the album was announced, and the recording phase started at the studio. Out of the 120 songs that she had received, she chose 20 of them for recording and as the production company was satisfied with all the pieces, they decided to release Hepsi Hit in two separate volumes.
Live Ankara is a live album by trumpeter Don Cherry. It was recorded in November 1969 at the US Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, and was released on LP in 1978 by Sonet Records. On the album, Cherry is joined by three Turkish musicians: saxophonist and percussion Irfan Sümer, bassist Selçuk Sun, and drummer Okay Temiz. The album was reissued by Sonet on CD in 1996, paired with Eternal Now, with the title The Sonet Recordings.
Live in Stockholm is a live album by multi-instrumentalist Don Cherry. Two tracks were recorded on September 2, 1968, at the ABF House in Sveavägen, Stockholm, while the remaining track was recorded on July 3, 1971, at the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm. The album was released on CD and LP by Caprice Records in 2013, and features Cherry on trumpet, flute, piano, percussion, and vocals, accompanied by saxophonists Bernt Rosengren and Tommy Koverhult, trumpeter Maffy Falay, bassists Torbjörn Hultcrantz and Rolf Olsson, and drummers Leif Wennerström and Okay Temiz.
Free Jam is a double-CD live album by trumpeter Mongezi Feza. It was recorded during November and December 1972, and was released in 2004 by Ayler Records. On the album, Feza is accompanied by members of the Bernt Rosengren quartet, featuring Rosengren and Tommy Koverhult on saxophone, Torbjörn Hultcrantz on bass, and Leif Wennerström on drums. The group is also joined by percussionist Okay Temiz.
