Lagos State is a state in southwestern Nigeria. Of the 36 states, it is both the most populous and smallest in area. Bounded to the south by the Bight of Benin and to the west by the international border with Benin, Lagos State borders Ogun State to the northeast making it the only Nigerian state to border only one other state. Named for the city of Lagos—the most populous city in Africa—the state was formed from the Western Region and the former Federal Capital Territory on 27 May 1967.
Lagos Island is the principal and central local government area (LGA) in Lagos, it was the capital of Lagos State until 1957. It is part of the Lagos Division. Mowo is a town in Badagry, Lagos State, southwestern Nigeria. The town is just few kilometers from Seme Border with a populations of about 78,897. Resident of the town are predominantly traders who often do businesses in the Seme border. In December 2013, it was reported that 600 buildings erected on about 65 hectares of land were demolished by the Nigerian police.
Badagry Festival is an annual event held in Badagry, a town in Lagos State, Nigeria. It is organised by the African Renaissance Foundation (AREFO). The event reflects the significance of the ancient town during the slave trade era. It is a convergence of culture and display of African heritage. The organizer brings the indegine and culture-loving fans from around the world to celebrate the festival. One of the major highlights is the artistic display by masquerades, dancers, and fire eaters. It features football competition, the beating of Sato drum, and Liberation Day Celebration.
Steve Oluseyi Ayorinde is the immediate past Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture in Lagos State in Nigeria. Before that, he was the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, sworn in by His Excellency the Governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode on 19 October 2015. He was also previously the Managing Director/Editor-In-Chief of the National Mirror newspaper, and before that, the Editor of The Punch newspaper in Nigeria.
Oshodi Market is a market located in Oshodi, a suburb of Lagos state, southwestern Nigeria. It is one of the largest markets in the Lagos metropolis although it is claimed, by government officials, to be blighted by criminal activity such as pickpocketing and bag snatching, and it has been decided to demolish the market. The market was razed in January 2016.
The 8th Lagos State House of Assembly is the legislative branch of the Lagos State Government inaugurated on June 8, 2015. The assembly will run its course till June 3, 2019. The assembly is unicameral with 41 representatives elected from each constituencies of the state. The incumbent Speaker of the 8th Legislative Assembly is Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa and the Deputy speaker is Hon. Eshinloku Sanni. The election of representative for the 8th legislative assembly was held on April 28, 2015.

The Oshodi–Apapa Expressway was constructed between 1975 and 1978 as a major route to Tincan and Apapa Port and also a major route into the country from Murtala Mohammed International Airport. As a result of neglect and so many years of the expressway, it however virtually collapsed, causing the drainage system to also collapse completely.
The 2023 Lagos State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Lagos State, concurrent with elections to the Lagos State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is eligible to run for re-election and has been renominated by his party.
Babatunde Hunpe is a Nigerian politician at the Federal House of Representatives level. He currently serves as the Federal Representative representing Badagry constituency in the 9th National Assembly. He was appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on rural development during the Babatunde Fashola administration in 2011. Also in 2015, he was appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on the Environment during the Akinwunmi Ambode administration.
Lagos State in Nigeria is home to several notable tourist sites. Tourism in Lagos State was first fashioned in 1995 by the Military Administration; ever since then, tourism sites have received thousands of visitors.
