Ola Byrknes (4 April 1933-30 November 2011) was a Norwegian politician for the Centre Party. [1] [2]
He served as a deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament from Sogn og Fjordane during the 1973–1977 term. [1]
On the local level he was a member of Gulen municipal councilfrom 1972 to 1999, serving as mayor from 1976 to 1978 and 1983 to 1999. He was a member of Sogn og Fjordane county council from 1976 to 1980.
He was also active in the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities.

Bordering previous counties Møre og Romsdal, Oppland, Buskerud, and Hordaland, the county administration was in the village of Hermansverk in Leikanger municipality. Hornindal is a former municipality in the old Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It existed from 1867 until 1965 and then again from 1977 until 2020. It was located in the traditional district of Nordfjord. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Grodås. The municipality was located at the eastern end of the lake Hornindalsvatnet, the deepest lake in Northern Europe. The rest of the lake lies inside neighboring Eid Municipality.
Innvik is a former municipality in the old Sogn og Fjordane county in Norway. The 511-square-kilometre (197 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until 1965. Innvik is located in the present-day Stryn Municipality in Vestland county, encompassing about the western third of the present municipality. Innvik included both sides of the Nordfjorden, from Randabygda in the west to just west of the village of Stryn. It stretched from the border with Hornindal Municipality in the north, through the Oldedalen valley all the way to the Jostedalsbreen glacier in the south.

Sogn og Fjordane County Municipality was the regional governing administration of the old Sogn og Fjordane county in Norway. The county municipality was established in its current form on 1 January 1976 when the law was changed to allow elected county councils in Norway. The county municipality was dissolved on 1 January 2020, when Sogn og Fjordane was merged with the neighboring Hordaland county, creating the new Vestland county which is led by the Vestland County Municipality.
