Professor Oladapo Afolabi CFR,(born 3 October 1953) is a former academic who was sworn in as Head of Service of the Federation of Nigeria by President Goodluck Jonathan on 18 November 2010. In this position,he is responsible for the Nigerian Civil Service. [1]
He is the erstwhile Pro-chancellor of Edwin Clark University,Delta state and has been appointed by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration as the Pro-chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University
Afolabi was born on 3 October,1953 in Ibadan,Oyo State. He is the son of Princess Asimawu Gbemisola Aweni Adeyemi and grandson of the Akinrun of Ikirun,Oba Lawani Adeyemi,Oyeloja II. He attended Igbo-Elerin Grammar School,Ibadan,Mayflower School,Ikenne,Ibadan Grammar School,Ibadan for his secondary education. [1] He attended the University of Ife,now Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile-Ife (1972–1975),earning a BSc in biochemistry. [2] After receiving his degree,he worked as a graduate assistant while studying for his MSc in biochemistry,which he gained in 1978,followed by a PhD in applied chemistry in 1981. [3]
Afolabi won a fellowship at Howard University as an International Atomic Energy Agency Fellow in 1983. He taught at Obafemi Awolowo University,the University of Zimbabwe and Ladoke Akintola University of Technology,Ogbomosho. Afolabi specialised in environmental and food nutritional chemistry,and contributed many papers on related subjects. He played an important role in organising the first Ecological Summit in 1988,which led to creation of the Federal Ministry of Environment. [3]
Afolabi joined the Federal Environmental Protection Agency in June 1991. [4] He started at the agency as a manager,rising to become the acting director. [3] He joined the Federal Ministry of Environment when it was formed in 1995. [4] Afolabi chaired the committee that defined the initial structure of the ministry,and then was appointed coordinator and then director of the Department of Pollution Control and Environmental Health. At the Environment Ministry he supervised the Integrated Solid waste Management Facility for 15 cities,and was responsible for a number of studies on waste management and pollution reduction. [3]
In October 2006,Afolabi was appointed a permanent secretary of the Federal Civil Service by President Olusegun Obasanjo. In June 2007,he became permanent secretary of the Ministry of Labour. In November 2007,he moved to the newly created Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources,formerly two separate ministries. In February 2009,Afolabi was assigned to the Cabinet Secretariat,in which role he introduced storage of documents in electronic form. In August 2009,he was again posted as a permanent secretary at the Ministry of Education,where he helped end a three-month strike. [3]
Afolabi was sworn in as Head of Service on 18 November,2010. [1] He succeeded Steve Oronsaye,who retired on 16 November,2010 after reaching the statutory retirement age of 60. [4]

Prince Abubakar Audu University,(Formerly Kogi State University) located at Anyigba, is a state-owned university of Kogi, Nigeria. It was established in 1999 by Prince Abubakar Audu, the former governor of the state. At the time of its establishment, it was known as Kogi State University, It was later renamed Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) in 2020, after the then sitting governor of Kogi State, who heralded its establishment, and later renamed Kogi State University (KSU) in 2003 by the former governor Ibrahim Idris and subsequently renamed as Prince Abubakar Audu University in 2020 by Governor Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello in respect of late Abubakar Audu.
Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) is a federal university in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. The university was founded in 1961 and classes commenced in October 1962 as the University of Ife by the regional government of Western Nigeria, which was led by Samuel Ladoke Akintola. It was renamed "Obafemi Awolowo University" on 12 May 1987, so by the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida led military administration, in honour of Obafemi Awolowo (1909–1987), the first premier of the Western Region of Nigeria, who initially thought of the idea of establishing the university.
Òkè-Ìlá Òràngún is an ancient city in southwestern Nigeria that was capital of the middle-age Igbomina-Yoruba city-state of the same name.
Inisa is a city in Osun State in the south-western Nigeria. It is in the Yoruba cultural and ethnic region of the country, and is a trading center for cocoa and other agricultural products grown in the surrounding area. Its population as of 2007 was 180,553. Inisa had been from time immemorial, a warrior community. She was deeply involved in the struggle for the survival of Yoruba race during the period of internecine wars and particularly, during the onslaught and incursions of the Fulani into Yorubaland in the 19th century. Inisa people participated actively in the series of the wars. They fought in the Osogbo war of 1840, the Jalumi War of 1878, the Ofa war (1886–1890) and the Daparu war. The Ofa war resulted from the desire of Ilorin-fulani to avenge their defeat at the Jalumi on Ofa and the neighboring towns. The war was fought during the reign of Oba Oloyede Ojo, Otepola 1. They laid siege on Ofa for several years before Ofa was eventually sacked around 1890. The Daparu war resulted from the sack and fall of Ofa. The Fulani now desired to sack all the towns and villages between Ofa and Osogbo and bring them under the rule of the Fulani of Ilorin. They continued to attack, raid, and wage wars against the people. Only Inisa was courageous enough to face the Fulani forces, as the other towns and villages were deserted, seeking refuge at the Ibadan war camp in Ikirun.

Baptist Boys’ High School is a Baptist secondary school in Abeokuta, Ogun State, south-west Nigeria. It had a student body of 2,000 students as of the 2022–2023 academic year. Olusegun Awolowo Jr., is a Nigerian lawyer, he was the executive director of Nigerian Export Promotion Council, from 2013 to 2021. He is the grandson of former Nigerian nationalist, socialist and statesman, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
