The Old Wykehamist cricket team was a first-class cricket team made up of former students of Winchester College in Winchester, England.

The team played one match with first-class status in July 1817 against the Old Etonians at Lord's, [1] winning the match by 72 runs. [2] The modern day Old Wykehamist Cricket Club was founded in 1874. [3]

Claude Thesiger Ashton was an English amateur footballer and first-class cricketer. As footballer he played for Corinthians in several different positions including goalkeeper and centre forward, although his preferred position was wing-half. He made one appearance for the England national team in 1925 when he was appointed team captain. As a cricketer he played for Cambridge University and Essex. A pre-war officer of the Auxiliary Air Force, he died as a result of a mid-air collision in a training accident in the Second World War.

William Lindsay was an English amateur footballer who, generally playing as a full back, helped the Wanderers win the FA Cup in 1876, 1877 and 1878 and made one appearance for England in 1877. He also played cricket for Surrey between 1876 and 1882.

Winchester College Ground is a cricket ground in Winchester, Hampshire. The ground is the historic grounds of Winchester College, with evidence suggesting cricket in Winchester dates back to the 17th century. The present ground, which is also known as New Field or Ridding Field, dates from 1869 when the then headmaster George Ridding bought land south of "meads" and donated it to the college. In 1875, the ground held was is to date the only first-class match to be played there when Hampshire played Kent in 1875. Hampshire, who were captained by Clement Booth, were dismissed for just 34 in their first-innings. In response, Kent were dismissed for 333, giving them a lead of 299. Hampshire fared little better in their second-innings, making just 82 to lose the match by an innings and 217 runs.

The 1872 cricket season was the second in which Derbyshire County Cricket Club played first-class matches. The team was captained by Samuel Richardson. Two matches were arranged against Lancashire County Cricket Club and Derbyshire lost both. Derbyshire also played a match against Prince's Club at their ground in Chelsea, which ended in a draw.

Herbert Whitfeld was an English amateur sportsman who played association football and county cricket.

Edgar Lubbock LLB was an English amateur footballer who twice won the FA Cup and played first-class cricket. He later became a partner in the Whitbread Brewery, a Director and Deputy Governor of the Bank of England and the Master of the Blankney Foxhounds.

Alfred Lubbock was an English insurance underwriter and banker. He is best known as an amateur cricketer who played first-class cricket for a variety of sides including Kent County Cricket Club and the Marylebone Cricket Club between 1863 and 1875. He was considered to be one of the best batsman of his era, comparable to WG Grace, and also played association football, playing for Old Etonians in the 1875 FA Cup Final.
