The National Counties, known as the Minor Counties before 2020, are the cricketing counties of England and Wales that do not have first-class status. The game is administered by the National Counties Cricket Association (NCCA), which comes under the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). There are currently twenty teams in National Counties cricket: nineteen representing historic counties of England, plus the Wales National County Cricket Club.
Durham County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Durham. Founded in 1882, Durham held minor status for over a century and was a prominent member of the Minor Counties Championship, winning the competition seven times. In 1992, the club joined the County Championship and the team was elevated to senior status as an official first-class team. Durham has been classified as an occasional List A team from 1964, then as a full List A team from 1992; and as a senior Twenty20 team since the format's introduction in 2003.
The Racecourse Ground is a cricket ground in Hereford. The ground is located inside Hereford Racecourse and is the only remaining former first-class cricket venue in England which lies inside a racecourse. It played host to first-class and List A cricket matches for Worcestershire County Cricket Club between 1919 and 1988, and minor counties matches for Herefordshire County Cricket Club from 1992 to 1996.
The Bass Worthington Ground was a cricket ground located along Derby Road in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. The ground was bordered to the east and north by the Pirelli tyre factory.
The Ind Coope Ground was a cricket ground in Burton, England where Derbyshire CCC played between 1938 and 1980. In most years, the ground would host at least one County Championship match. Staffordshire CCC used the ground between 1987 and 1991 for NatWest Trophy and Minor Counties Championship matches.
Tean Road Sports Ground is a cricket ground in Cheadle, Staffordshire. The ground is located south of the town centre along the Tean Road, which itself forms part of the A522 Road. Highfield is a cricket ground in Leek, Staffordshire. The ground is located just outside of the town along the Macclesfield Road, which itself forms part of the A523 Road. It has played host to List A and Twenty20 matches for Derbyshire County Cricket Club, in addition to playing host to Staffordshire County Cricket Club in minor counties cricket.
Osborne Avenue is a cricket ground in Jesmond, Tyne and Wear. It was originally known as the Constabulary Ground. It is currently the home ground of Newcastle Cricket Club, Royal Grammar School Newcastle and Northumberland County Cricket Club.
The Denis Compton Oval is a cricket ground located at the Shenley Cricket Centre in Shenley, Hertfordshire, England. The ground was opened by Denis Compton and the main ground was named in his honour. At the heart of the centre is the 19th-century pavilion, originally designed by the legendary cricketer W. G. Grace.
Michelin Ground was a cricket ground in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. The ground was built and owned by the Michelin Tyre Company and was located along Campbell Road. Its location today would be next to the bridge halfway along Campbell Road which passes over the A500 road.
Meir Heath Cricket Club is a cricket club and ground in Meir Heath, Staffordshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1991, when Staffordshire played Shropshire in the grounds only MCCA Knockout Trophy match. In 1992, it held its first Minor Counties Championship match which saw Staffordshire play Suffolk. The following year, the ground held its second and to date final Minor Counties Championship match, which was between Staffordshire and Lincolnshire.
Longton Cricket Club Ground is a cricket ground in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1954, when Staffordshire played Northumberland in the grounds first Minor Counties Championship match. From 1954 to present, the ground has hosted 40 Minor Counties Championship matches and 7 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.
Deer Park is a cricket ground within the grounds of Dunstall Hall, Dunstall, Staffordshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1997, when the Derbyshire Second XI played the Durham Second XI in the Second XI Trophy. The ground held 2 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches in 1999. The first saw the Derbyshire Cricket Board as the home team against Shropshire and the second saw Staffordshire against the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board. The ground has held a number of Second XI Championship and Second XI Trophy matches for the Derbyshire Second XI.
The County Ground was a cricket ground in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. The ground, located along Station Road, was situated close to Stoke-on-Trent railway station.
Lindum Sports Club Ground is a cricket ground in Lincoln, Lincolnshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1861, when Lincolnshire played an All-England Eleven. Lincolnshire played their first Minor Counties Championship match at the ground in 1907 against Staffordshire. Lincolnshire used the ground during a number of periods during the 21st century, playing their final Minor Counties Championship match at the ground in 2000 against Cumberland. The first MCCA Knockout Trophy watch played the ground saw Lincolnshire play Bedfordshire in 1996. From 1996 to 2007, the ground held 4 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches, with the final match played on the ground to date against Lincolnshire and Staffordshire.
The Sports Ground is a cricket ground in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1961, when Lincolnshire Colts played Derbyshire Juniors.
