Olga Zubova (born 9 December 1993) is a Russian weightlifter. [1]
After coming back from a 2-year suspension and not having been defeated for gold in any competition until the World Weightlifting Championships in Houston, USA 2015, this immensely talented athlete was the prime candidate to lead the Russian women's 75 kg class for gold in the 2016 Olympics until she was suspended for drug violations once again.
She competed in the 2013 World Weightlifting Championships – Women's 75 kg convincing winning the Gold medal but then got disqualified for using a banned substance, Clomiphene, in competition that resulted in her 1st suspension [2]
She returned to competition at the 2015 World Weightlifting Championships in Houston, Texas and took bronze in women's 75 kg, where she failed a doping control again. [3]
In May 2016, Olga Zubova has been banned for eight years for doping. [4] [5]
Since being banned she has participated in the relative new sport CrossFit that stresses a combination of various athletic movements requiring great muscle endurance. She purportedly had in training(while suspended) exceeded all world records in 75 kg class with a snatch over 135 kg & clean&jerk 175 kg.
Weightlifting is a sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with the aim of successfully lifting the heaviest weights. Athletes compete in two specific ways of lifting the barbell overhead. The snatch is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. The clean and jerk is a combination lift, in which the weight is first taken from the ground to the front of the shoulders, and then from the shoulders to over the head. The sport formerly included a third lift/event known as clean and press.

Ilya Aleksandrovich Ilyin is a retired Kazakhstani weightlifter who won four world championships. On 12 December, 2015 at the President's Cup in Grozny, Russia, Ilyin set two world records in the −105 kg class. He lifted 246 kg in the clean and jerk and 437 kg in the total. Ilyin was named IWF World Weightlifter of the Year four times: in 2005, 2006, 2014, and 2015.

Olha Vasylivna Korobka is a Ukrainian weightlifter who was the European record holder in the snatch with 133 kg, and in the clean and jerk with 164 kg.
Lydia Valentín Pérez is a Spanish retired weightlifter, Olympic Champion, 2 time World Champion and 4 time European Champion competing in the 75 kg category until 2018 and 81 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. Lydia has won three Olympic Medals, two World Weightlifting Championships, as well as four European Weightlifting Championships.
The World Weightlifting Championships is an international weightlifting competition, currently held annually by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). The predecessor organization of the IWF was founded in 1905, but World Championship events began before its foundation. The first recognized World Championship event was held in 1891, and was won by Edward Lawrence Levy of England.
Tatiana Yuryevna Kashirina is a Russian Olympic weightlifter, Olympic silver medalist, five time World Champion and eight time European Champion competing in the +90 kg and +75 kg categories until 2018 and +87 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. On 9 September 2023, the Court of Arbitration for Sport annulled over four years of her results due to drugs offenses, stating, "All the competitive results obtained by Tatiana Kashirina from 1 April 2013 until 19 June 2017 were disqualified, with all the resulting consequences, including the forfeiture of any titles, awards, medals, points and prize and appearance money."
Lü Xiaojun is a Chinese weightlifter. He is a three-time Olympic champion and five-time world champion competing in the 77 kg category until 2018 and 81 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. He is widely considered as one of the greatest weightlifters of all time.
Zulfiya Salakharqyzy Chinshanlo is a Kazakhstani weightlifter. She is a three time world champion and Olympic bronze medalist.
Cristina Iovu is a Moldovan–born Azerbaijani-Romanian weightlifter competing in the –53 kg division. She is banned by the International Weightlifting Federation until 2026 for Blood substitution.
Sarah Elizabeth Robles is an American weightlifter. She qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London and earned a bronze medal in weightlifting at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, becoming the first US athlete to medal in Olympic weightlifting in 16 years. She repeated her feat in the +87 kg category at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, once again earning bronze, and becoming the first US woman to earn two Olympic weightlifting medals.
Nijat Rahimov is an Azerbaijani-born naturalized Kazakhstani weightlifter. He represented Kazakhstan at the 2016 Summer Olympics, in the category of 77 kg, he placed first, winning the gold medal and setting a new world record with a clean and jerk lift of 214 kilograms. In 2022, the medal was stripped and he was banned when it was revealed he substituted urine samples.
Lin Tzu-chi is a Taiwanese weightlifter. She was to appear at the 2010 Asian Games, but was suspended from competition due to a positive drug test. Lin was banned until 2012. At the 2014 Asian Games, she set a world record in women's 63 kg, with a lift of 261 kg. She also set the clean and jerk record for her weight class, at 145 kg. The government of Taiwan awarded her NT$3 million for this accomplishment. Lin was suspended from the 2016 Summer Olympics due to another positive drug test result. The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled in November 2018, after an appeal by the World Anti-Doping Agency, that Lin was to serve an eight-year suspension, and additionally vacated all weightlifting medals, prizes and points earned by Lin after 24 June 2016.
Lasha Talakhadze is a Georgian weightlifter, holding the all-time world records regardless of weight category in the snatch, the clean and jerk, and the total since 2021.
Iryna Mykhailivna Dekha is a Ukrainian weightlifter. She is a two-time Olympian and a four-time European champion.
Bilikis Abiodun Otunla is a Nigerian weightlifter. She competed in the 2015 African Games and she won gold medals in the women's 69 kg category - Clean and jerk 1ST (Gold), Women's 69 – 75 kg category – Trekken 1ST (Gold) and Women's 69 – 75 kg – Total Gold She had also participated in the 2016, 2018 and 2019 of the African Games competitions winning gold at all of them except the 2019 which she was suspended after her win as a result of a failed anti-doping test, and the gold medal was not awarded to her. In 2019 she was banned until 2027 by the International Weightlifting Federation after testing positive for metenolone and metenolone metabolites.
Olga Te is a Russian weightlifter. She won the gold medal in the women's 59 kg event at the 2021 European Weightlifting Championships held in Moscow, Russia. At the time, she won the silver medal but in October 2021, this became the gold medal as original gold medalist Boyanka Kostova of Azerbaijan was banned for testing positive for traces of stanozolol. She also won the bronze medal in the women's 59 kg event at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Cicely Jevon Kyle is an American weightlifter. She is a two-time medalist, including gold, at the Pan American Weightlifting Championships.
