One Love, One Life is the fifteenth studio album by the Jamaican reggae singer Beres Hammond, released as a double album on 13 November 2012 by VP Records. [1] One Love, One Life consists of 20 songs and Hammond himself produced 19 out of 20 songs with various co-producers including Donovan Germain on "No Candle Light", Collin 'Bulby' York on "In My Arms", and Michael Fletcher on "More Time". [2] The first disc, One Love features Hammond's distinctive classic lovers rock sounds, such as "No Candle Light", "In My Arms", and "Keep Me Warm". [3] In contrast, the second disc concentrates on socially conscious and empowering tracks such as "You Stand Alone", "Truth Will Live On", and "Prime Time". [3]

Contents

One Love, One Life was Hammond's first album in four years. In January 2014 it was nominated for a Grammy Award. [4]

Toots and the Maytals

Toots and the Maytals, originally called The Maytals, were a Jamaican musical group, one of the best known ska and rocksteady vocal groups. The Maytals were formed in the early 1960s and were key figures in popularizing reggae music. Frontman Toots Hibbert is considered a Reggae pioneer on a par with Bob Marley. His soulful vocal style has been compared to Otis Redding, and led him to be named by Rolling Stone as one of the 100 Greatest Singers. Their 1968 single "Do the Reggay" was the first song to use the word "reggae", coining the name of the genre and introducing it to a global audience. The Oxford English Dictionary credits Toots and the Maytals in the etymology of the word "Reggae". According to Island Records founder Chris Blackwell "The Maytals were unlike anything else ... sensational, raw and dynamic."

It features guest appearances from Beres Hammond, Bounty Killer, Fat Joe, Nadine Sutherland, Sons & Daughters Choir and Wayne Wonder. The album peaked at number 198 on the US Billboard 200 album chart, and was nominated for Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album at the 46th Annual Grammy Awards, but lost to Sean Paul's Dutty Rock. The album was supported with charted single "Paid Not Played", which peaked at number 84 on the Official Singles Chart Top 100 in the UK.

Never Ending is reggae artist Beres Hammond's nineteenth studio album, released on October 12, 2018. It debuted at number one on the Billboard Reggae chart. The 14-track album was recorded in Kingston, Jamaica.
