Opshop is a New Zealand rock band who formed in 2002. [3] They released their first album, You Are Here in 2004, [4] their second album Second Hand Planet in 2007, [5] and their third album Until The End of Time , which debuted at number one on the New Zealand Album Charts, in 2010. [6]

In 2008, the band won the 2008 APRA Silver Scroll for Song of the Year for their song "One Day". [7] [8]

Jason Kerrison, the lead member of the group appeared on The Masked Singer NZ as a Tuatara, winning the first season. In 2011 (leading up to 2012), Jason Kerrison built a bunker after watching the 2009 film 2012. He said that John Cusack's performance was convincing, forcing him to think the end of the world was upon us. [9]

The second series of New Zealand's Got Talent aired on TV One on 9 September 2012 and ended on 2 December 2012. The series was won by 15-year-old singer-songwriter Clara van Wel from Blenheim who performed her own song "Where Do You Find Love?". 11-year-old singer Jessie Hillel from Wellington was the runner-up, with 17-year-old singer-songwriter Evan Sinton from Auckland in third place.

The 2008 APRA Silver Scroll Awards were held on Wednesday 10 September 2008 at the Auckland Town Hall, celebrating excellence in New Zealand songwriting. The Silver Scroll Award was presented to Jason Kerrison, Bobby Kennedy, Matt Treacy and Clinton Harris for the Opshop song "One Day", and the country duo Topp Twins were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame. The event also paid tribute to singer-songwriter Mahinārangi Tocker who had died earlier in 2008.

Joel Little is a New Zealand record producer, musician and Grammy Award-winning songwriter. Evan Sinton, better known by his stage name Maala, is a New Zealand singer-songwriter. He is best known for his songs "Touch" and "Kind of Love", and for coming third on the second series of New Zealand's Got Talent in 2012. In 2016, he won Best Male Solo Artist at the New Zealand Music Awards.

The 2017 APRA Silver Scroll Awards were held on Thursday 28 September 2017 at the Dunedin Town Hall in Dunedin, celebrating excellence in New Zealand songwriting. This was the first time the awards had been hosted in Dunedin.
