Johny got to know the members by teaching Jazz and Fin music in college and joined the band a few months after forming. [3] Regarding their band name Opus Kink, Angus interviewed that he misheard "hopeless c**t," a swear word he received from someone else, and decided to name it a band name. [4] They released the AA side Faster Than the Radio / Mosquito in 2019 which was produced by Liam Watson (record producer) at Toe Rag Studios in East London and released through their own Label, Hideous Mink Records. [1] In 2020 lockdown, they released their first EP Requiem For a Quarantine. [5]

The band then got found by Tim Burgess (musician) who offered to produce two singles at Rockfield Studios. They then went on to release Wild Bill and This Train through Nice Swan Records.

Jack Banjo Courtney joined the band in late 2021 just before the recording of their second EP Til the Stream Runs Dry at Rockfield Studios.

In 2022, they released the EP Til the Stream Runs Dry. [6] They released the singles Dust and 1:18, from their latest EP in 2023, with Brighton Sextet describing their music as "a loose collection of dream and nightmare sequences."
