Otto Tausk (born 1970 in Utrecht) is a Dutch conductor.
Tausk was a violin student of Viktor Liberman and István Párkányi. He studied conducting with nl:Jurjen Hempel and Kenneth Montgomery. He continued his music studies with Jonas Aleksa at the Vilnius conservatory.
Tausk was principal conductor of the Ensemble MAE (Maarten Altena Ensemble) from 2001 to 2007. Tausk served as an assistant conductor with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra from 2004 to 2006. From 2007 to 2012, Tausk was chief conductor of Holland Symfonia, during which time he received the de Olifant prize from the city of Haarlem. [1] In 2012 and 2014, he was jury chairman of the AVRO television program Maestro.
In March 2004, Tausk conducted the posthumous premiere of Protesilaos en Laodamia, an uncompleted opera by Rudolf Escher in a performing version realised by Willem Boogman. [2] His other work related to contemporary music has included conducting the June 2006 premiere of Michel van der Aa's After Life, at De Nederlandse Opera.
Outside of the Netherlands, Tausk became chief conductor of the Sinfonieorchester St. Gallen and the opera of Saint Gallen in 2012. His initial contract, through 2014, was extended to 2018. [3] His work in St. Gallen has included conducting the world premiere of Annas Maske by David Philip Hefti and Alain Claude Sulzer. He stood down from his St. Gallen posts in 2018. [3]
In January 2016, Tausk first guest-conducted the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO). He returned for a second VSO guest-conducting engagement in January 2017. In February 2017, the VSO named Tausk its next music director, effective 1 July 2018. He held the title of music director-designate for the 2017-2018 season. [4] In September 2020, the VSO announced the extension of Tausk's contract as music director through the 2025-2026 season. [5] In June 2024, the VSO announced a further extension of Tausk's contract as music director through the 2029-2030 season. [6]
In September 2020, Tausk was announced as the first chief conductor of the newly formed Phion, Orkest van Gelderland & Overijssel, which combines Het Gelders Orkest and Orkest van het Oosten. Tausk stood down as chief conductor of Phion in June 2022. [7]

Bernard Johan Herman Haitink was a Dutch conductor and violinist. He was the principal conductor of several international orchestras, beginning with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in 1961. He moved to London, as principal conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra from 1967 to 1979, music director at Glyndebourne Opera from 1978 to 1988 and of the Royal Opera House from 1987 to 2002, when he became principal conductor of the Staatskapelle Dresden. Finally, he was principal conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 2006 to 2010. The focus of his prolific recording was classical symphonies and orchestral works, but he also conducted operas. He conducted 90 concerts at The Proms in London, the last on 3 September 2019 with the Vienna Philharmonic. His awards include Grammy Awards and the 2015 Gramophone Award for his lifetime achievements.
Edo de Waart is a Dutch retired conductor. He is Music Director Laureate of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. De Waart is the former music director of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (2016-2019), chief conductor of the Royal Flemish Philharmonic (2011-2016) and Artistic Partner with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra (2010-2014).
The Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra is a Dutch symphony orchestra based in Rotterdam. Its primary venue is the concert hall De Doelen. The RPhO is considered one of the Netherlands' two principal orchestras of international standing, second to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam. In addition to symphony concerts, the RPhO performs as the opera orchestra in productions at De Nederlandse Opera, as do other Dutch ensembles.

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) is a Canadian orchestra based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The VSO performs at the Orpheum, which has been the orchestra's permanent home since 1977. With an annual operating budget of $16 million, it is the third largest symphony orchestra in Canada and the largest performing arts organization in Western Canada. It performs 140 concerts per season. The VSO broadcasts annually on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The orchestra is affiliated with the VSO School of Music, which was established in September 2011. Chamber music concerts by VSO musicians take place at Pyatt Hall on the VSO School of Music campus.

At the same time the Dutch abbreviation "OvhO" was replaced with "NedSym." Due to objections from the Amsterdam-based Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, the Enschede orchestra had to change its name again and from 2014 till 2019 was known as HET Symfonieorkest. Internationally it keeps employing the name "Netherlands Symphony Orchestra".
