Oulu is a city in Finland and the regional capital of North Ostrobothnia. It is located on the northwestern coast of the country at the mouth of the River Oulu. The population of Oulu is approximately 216,000, while the sub-region has a population of approximately 264,000. It is the 5th most populous municipality in Finland, and the fourth most populous urban area in the country. Oulu is also the most populous city in Northern Finland.
The University of Oulu is one of the largest universities in Finland, located in the city of Oulu. It was founded on July 8, 1958. The university has around 14,200 students and 3,800 staff. 21 International Master's Programmes are offered at the university. The university is often ranked as one of the best universities in Finland and in the top 400 worldwide.
Kuopio Lyceum High School is an upper secondary school (lukio) for students aged 15–19. Kuopion Lyseon lukio is located in Kuopio, Finland. Originally established as a boys' school in 1872, Kuopion Lyseo opened its doors to both sexes in 1977. The origins of Kuopion Lyseo can be traced further back to Viipurin Triviaalikoulu that was established in 1534 and relocated to Kuopio in 1777.
Oulu International School (OIS) is a public, not-for-profit, co-educational international school in the Myllytulli district in Oulu, Finland. The school was founded in 2001. It is one of nine English-speaking schools in Finland that offer basic education.
panOULU is a municipal wireless network in Finland. panOULU is operated by City of Oulu, University of Oulu, Oulu University of Applied Sciences and Oulun Puhelin Oyj. The network coveres central Oulu, and the campus areas. In addition, outside of Oulu, the network covers Oulu Airport in Oulunsalo, the ferries to Hailuoto, University of Oulu campus in Kajaani, and the Chydenius Institute campus in Kokkola. The network also covers parts of Ylikiiminki. The network is free to use and requires no passwords; it can be used with any computer, cell phone, PDA or other device that is capable of using Wi-Fi.
Rafael Scapini de Almeida, commonly known as Rafinha, is a Brazilian football coach and a former professional footballer. He is currently working as an assistant coach of Veikkausliiga club AC Oulu. Besides Brazil, he has played in Finland and Belgium. During his career, Rafinha was deployed on different positions on the field, having started as a winger, moving on to midfield and ending his career as a centre back.
Laanila High School is an upper secondary school in Oulu, Finland that was founded in 1957. There are currently about 310 pupils in it with around 32 staff members. The high school shares a building with Laanila intermediate school. Even though both of the schools are named after the Laanila district, they are actually located in the district of Hintta, an area next to Laanila. The current "motto" is rakkauden laanila
Tikkurila Upper Secondary School, abbreviated in Finnish as TILU, is the largest high school in Finland, with about 1200 students from grades 10 to 12. The school also offer an IB programme which is greatly valued in all around the world. The school is located in Tikkurila, Vantaa, and is approximately 430 metres (1,411 ft) from Hiekkaharju's station. In 2018, junior high school graduates needed a minimum of 8.10 GPA to be admitted to study at Tikkurila Upper Secondary.
Ressu Upper Secondary School, also known internationally as Ressun lukio IB World School, is a secondary school located in central Helsinki, Finland. Founded in 1891, Ressu is one of the oldest Finnish speaking schools and considered to be one of the most prestigious schools in Finland.
Vasa övningsskola (VÖS) is a Swedish-speaking normal school in Vaasa, Finland. VÖS is a part of Åbo Akademi University, and its Faculty of Education and Welfare Studies located in Vaasa. It is the only Swedish normal school in Finland. VÖS provides preschool, primary and lower and upper secondary education, and in addition is one of the 17 schools in Finland with an International Baccalaureate upper secondary school programme.

Vanhatulli is a district of the city centre area of Oulu, Finland. Together with the districts of Pokkinen and Vaara, Vanhatulli forms the central business district of Oulu. It is bounded by the estuary of the Oulujoki river to the west, the Pokkinen and Vaara districts to the north, the Leveri and Hollihaka districts to the south and the railway to the east.
Axel Hampus Dalström, was a Finnish architect. He was the director of the National Board of Public Building from 1869 to 1882. Dalström is best known for the Old Student House in Helsinki as well as for seven lighthouses he designed in the 1870s.

Oulun Suomalaisen Yhteiskoulun Lukio is a Finnish-language upper secondary school in Oulu, Finland. The school is located in the Kuusiluoto neighbourhood in the Vanhatulli district in the central Oulu.
Leena Maria Ala-Kokko is a Finnish biochemist and molecular biologist. Her research focuses on collagens, in particular those found in cartilage, as well as connective tissue disease. She has worked as a professor both in Finland and in the United States and, with her husband, runs a US-based company that carries out molecular diagnostic testing of connective tissue diseases.
The Oulu Bus Station is a bus station in the city center of Oulu, Finland, located in the Vaara district near the Raksila district. From the bus station there is a pedestrian connection via the railway underpass tunnel to Oulu railway station and the station pier. There is no longer a ticket office and the Matkahuolto service in the station building, but there is still a café in the building.
The Battle of Oulu refers to a battle between the Whites and the Reds in the port city of Oulu during the Finnish Civil War. The battle took place on 3 February 1918.
