Oumar Camara (born 19 August 1992) is a professional footballer who plays for Chinese Super League club Nantong Zhiyun as a midfielder. Born in France, he played for the Mauritania national team.

Club career

Camara trained as a youth with Le Havre AC, making appearances with their B team and training with the professional group. On leaving Le Havre he joined La Vitréenne FC in the fifth tier at the start of the 2012–13 season, but after issues over pay and a groin injury he left in November 2013 and returned to his home to train alone. [1]

In the summer of 2013, Camara signed for fourth-level FC Chartres. [1] In the 2014–15 season he played with ESM Gonfreville, enjoying a "quality season", which saw him attract the attention of US Orléans, for whom he signed in July 2015. [2]

Camara signed his first professional contract with Orléans in the summer of 2016, before being loaned out to CA Bastia for the 2016–17 season. [3]

Following the clubs promotion, Camara made his debut at the professional level for Orléans in a 3–1 Ligue 2 win over AS Nancy on 28 July 2017. [4] In January 2018 he joined Lyon Duchère on loan until the end of the season. [5]

On 21 August 2018, Greek club Panionios officially announced the signing of Camara, until the end of 2018-19 season. [6]

Released by Panionis in the summer of 2020, Camara was without a club until a successful trial with FC Sète 34 resulted in a contract. [7]

On 12 August 2022, Camara joined China League One club Nantong Zhiyun. [8]

International career

Camara is of Mauritanian descent. He was called up to represent the Mauritania national team for a set of friendlies in June 2021. [9] He debuted with Mauritania in a 1–0 friendly win over Liberia on 11 June 2021. [10]

The 2021–22 Championnat National season was the 29th season since the establishment of the Championnat National, and the 23rd in its current format, which serves as the third division of the French football league system.

The 2022–23 Ligue 2, commonly known as 2022–23 Ligue 2 BKT for sponsorship reasons, was the 84th season of Ligue 2. It began on 30 July 2022 and ended on 5 June 2023. The league had a break from 12 November to 27 December due to the FIFA World Cup. Two clubs were to be promoted to Ligue 1 at the end of the season as the number of clubs in Ligue 1 was set to be reduced from 20 to 18 for the 2023–24 season. As a result, there were no play-offs held after the end of the regular season.

The 2019–20 season was the 149th season in the existence of Le Havre AC and the club's 11th consecutive season in the second division of French football. In addition to the domestic league, Le Havre participated in this season's editions of the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue.

This season the competition was contested by 64 clubs split geographically across four groups of 16 teams. The teams included amateur clubs and the reserve teams of professional clubs. The competition started on 20 August 2022 and completed on 3 June 2023.

The 2022–23 season was the 96th in the history of FC Annecy, and the club's first season back in the second division since 1993. The club participated in Ligue 2 and the Coupe de France, suffering relegation in the former while reaching the semi-finals in the latter.

The 2023–24 season is SC Bastia's 119th season in existence and third consecutive in the Ligue 2. They are also competing in the Coupe de France.
