Oumar Kalabane (born 8 April 1981 [1] ) is a Guinean former professional footballer who played as a defender. He represented the Guinea national team between 2000 and 2013.
Born in Conakry, Kalabane started his career with Hirondelles de Conakry in his native Guinea, before moving to Étoile de Guinée and then Étoile Sahel of Tunisia in 2000. After five years there, Kalabane was signed by AJ Auxerre of Ligue 1 where he spent two seasons, appearing in 20 league matches. [2]
He also played three seasons in the Turkish Süper Lig with Manisaspor. [3]
On 19 July 2012, Gabala FC announced the signing of Kalabane on a two-year contract. [4] He made his debut for Gabala on 4 August 2012 in a 1–1 draw against Simurq. [5] He scored his first and second goals for Gabala in their 4–1 home victory over Sumgayit on 25 August 2012. [6] At the end of his first season Kalabane had played 29 games in all competitions, scoring two goals.
After playing only three of the first 14 games of the 2013–14 season, Kalabane suffered a meniscus tear at his knee during training and underwent surgery at Acibadem Fulya Hospital. [7] Kalabane was told he could leave Gabala in December 2013. [8]
At the international level, Kalabane has made several appearances for the full Guinea national football team, including 10 qualifying matches for various FIFA World Cups. [9] Kalabane played in four matches at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations [10] and four matches at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored a goal in the opening match, a 2–1 defeat to Ghana. [11]

The Gabala FC 2008–09 season was Gabala's third Azerbaijan Premier League season, and their third season under manager Ramiz Mammadov. They finished 10th in the Premier League, whilst being knocked out at the Semifinal stage of the 2008–09 Azerbaijan Cup by Inter Baku. Their kit was supplied by Erreà and their main sponsor was Hyundai.
The Gabala FC 2007–08 season was Gabala FC's second Azerbaijan Premier League season, and their second season under manager Ramiz Mammadov. They finished the season in 6th place, whilst they also took part in the 2007–08 Azerbaijan Cup, which they were knocked out of in the Semifinals by Khazar Lankaran.
The Gabala FC 2012–13 season is Gabala's eighth season and seventh Azerbaijan Premier League season. They started the season under manager Fatih Kavlak, who was sacked on 24 September 2012 following a poor run of results and was replaced by Ramiz Mammadov. Mammadov was himself sacked on 2 April 2013 following 5 games without a win, with reserve team manager Luis Aragon taking over in a Caretaker role. Gabala also competed in the Azerbaijan Cup, entering at the Last 16 stage and beating Qaradağ before being eliminated in the Quarterfinals by Qarabağ.
The Ravan Baku 2012-13 season was Ravan Baku's second Azerbaijan Premier League season. Ravan started the season under new manager Cevat Güler, having replaced Bahman Hasanov in preseason. Güler was sacked as manager on 25 August with Hasanov being brought in as caretaker manager until Ravan appointed Kemal Alispahić on 24 September. They finished the season in their highest ever position, third, and earned qualification to the UEFA Europa League for the first time in the club's history. They also participated in the Azerbaijan Cup, reaching the final for the first time, where they lost to Neftchi Baku on penalties. It was their first, and only, season with manager Yuri Semin, who mutually terminated his contract at the end of the season. Danijel Subotić was the team's top goalscorer for the season with 13, 12 of which came in the Premier League.
The Khazar Lankaran 2013-14 season is Khazar Lankaran's ninth Azerbaijan Premier League season. It is their first full season with John Toshack as manager. They started the season by competing in the 2013–14 UEFA Europa League, reaching the 2nd qualifying round, after defeating Sliema Wanderers, before losing 0-10 on aggregate to Maccabi Haifa. As runners up in the previous season Azerbaijan Cup, Khazar took part in the revamped Azerbaijan Supercup, emerging victorious against Neftchi Baku. The 2018–19 season was Gabala's 14th season in the Azerbaijan Premier League, the top-flight of Azerbaijani football. The club participated in the Premier League, finishing fourth. They also entered the Azerbaijan Cup, defeating Sumgayit 1-0 to win their first title. They also played in the Europa League, where they were eliminated by Progrès Niederkorn in the first qualifying round.
