Our Lady of Sinj (Croatian : Gospa sinjska) is the title given to a painting venerated as miraculous of Mary, mother of Jesus. The sanctuary in Sinj where the painting is located is a pilgrimage site.
It may have been created by an unknown Venetian artist in the 16th century. The painting was originally located in Sinj and was moved to Rama, Bosnia and Herzegovina when Sinj was invaded during the Ottoman wars in Europe in 1536. It was returned to Sinj in 1687. [1] Today, it is kept in the Franciscan monastery of the Franciscan Province of the Most Holy Redeemer. It was crowned on 1716.
Sinj is a town in the continental part of Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia. As of the 2021 census, the population was 23 500 people, of which 10 800 inhabited its urban core.

The Sinjska alka is an equestrian competition held in the Croatian town of Sinj every first Sunday in August since 1715. It commemorates a Croatian–Venetian victory in the Ottoman–Venetian war on August 14, 1715, in which the local Christian population of around 700 Croats in cooperation with a smaller number of Venetians managed to defend Sinj against 60,000 Ottoman soldiers led by Mehmed-paša Ćelić. Because of this victory, the Venetians retained control over Sinj and integrated it into the Venetian Dalmatia in accordance to the terms of the Treaty of Passarowitz signed in 1718.

Our Lady of Medjugorje, also called Queen of Peace and Mother of the Redeemer, is the title given to alleged visions of Mary, the mother of Jesus, said to have begun in 1981 to six Herzegovinian Croat teenagers in Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The alleged visionaries are Ivan Dragičević, Ivanka Ivanković, Jakov Čolo, Marija Pavlović, Mirjana Dragičević and Vicka Ivanković. They ranged from ten to sixteen years old at the time of the first apparition.
