Outbox Enterprises was founded in 2011 and based in Los Angeles. [1] It offers a white label system to sell tickets directly to customers, allowing live entertainment venues to control their inventory, pricing, and consumer data without third party involvement. Cirque du Soleil, a client, is also a shareholder. [2]

History

In 2011, Outbox and AEG created AXS, a competitor to Ticketmaster. [3] The former Ticketmaster CEO Frederic D. Rosen became the CEO of Outbox Enterprises. [4] After a year, Fred Rosen had to step down, which suggests a sign of internal troubles at Outbox. [5] Outbox Enterprises was born from Outbox Technology, founded in 2005 by Jean-Francoys Brousseau. [6]

In 2015, it changed its name to OutboxAXS, [7] indicating a clash of visions between Outbox and AEG. In 2019, Outbox sold its stake in AXS to AEG. [8] In 2015, OutboxAXS also merged with the paperless ticketing system Veritix. [9]

In 2020, the Cirque du Soleil, a major shareholder of Outbox, went bankrupt.

Leiweke was the former president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) and former president and CEO of Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG). Leiweke held roughly a 4% stake in AEG as of 2012, and is well known for his relationship with notoriously reclusive AEG founder and Denver-based billionaire Philip Anschutz, whom he has known since the early 1990s. Iris was a resident Cirque du Soleil show based in Los Angeles, California. It premiered on September 25, 2011, after preview performances which began on July 21, 2011. The cost for production of the show was nearly $100 million, which included the cost of renovating the Dolby Theatre in which the show was housed. Iris was written and directed by French director-choreographer Philippe Decouflé. The show explored images from the history of cinema and featured elaborate choreography, acrobatics, and a variety of contemporary circus acts. The name of the show, Iris, comes from the camera diaphragm as well as from the colored iris of the human eye.
