Owabi River is a river located in Owabi in the Atwima Nwabiagya South District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. [1] [2] [3] The Owabi Water Dam and Water Treatment plant is located on the river. [4] [5] Chiefs in Asafoa in the Kumasi Metropolis claimed there is a god in the river. [6]

In October 2024, five people drowned in the river. [7] [8] [9]

In November 2024, Nana Akufo-Addo commissioned a bridge over the river at Atafoa. [10]

The Ahafo Region is a newly created region in Ghana with Goaso as its capital. The region has administrative and governmental legislature like all the ten already existing regions in Ghana. The region was carved out of the south-eastern part of the Brong Ahafo Region and was in fulfillment of a campaign promise made by New Patriotic Party.
