Philip Kofi Dovia Habada was a Ghanaian soldier and politician. He was the Volta Regional Commissioner (Volta Regional Minister) from 1972 to May 1973, [1] and the Greater Accra Regional Commissioner (Greater Accra Regional Minister) from 1973 to October 1975. [2] [3]
Habada was born on 6 April 1928 at Hatorgodo,a suburb of the Keta Municipal District (then a part of the Anlo District) in the Volta Region of Ghana (then Gold Coast). [4] He had his early education at the Abor Roman Catholic Mission School,and the Keta Roman Catholic Senior School until 1944. [5]
Habada joined the Royal West African Frontier Force (RWAFF) in 1945,and a year later,he was made instructor of the Sierra Leone Army. [6] In 1947 he became a Warrant Officer Class II,and that same year he was attached to the Educational wing of the African Frontier force,serving in this capacity for about ten years. [6] In 1959,he was commissioned officer in the second Battalion,and served under Emmanuel Kwasi Kotoka as the Commander Pay Master of the Headquarters Company. He also worked as the Mechanical Transport Officer of the 2nd Battalion and the Ghana Military Academy and Training School. He later became the Deputy Adjutant,and the Quarter Master General of the Ghana Military Academy and Training School.
Following the 1966 overthrow of the Nkrumah government,Habada became a member of the Volta Regional Committee of Administration. He was the Camp Commandant at the Ghana Army Headquarters,and Officer in command of the Headquarters of the Military Academy Training School in Teshie. [7]
Following the overthrow of the Busia government in 1972,he was appointed Commissioner for the Volta Region in the National Redemption Council (NRC) military government led by Colonel I. K. Acheampong. [1] [7] In May 1973 he became the Greater Accra Regional Commissioner, [8] [9] succeeding,W. C. O. Acquaye-Nortey. [3] [10] He remained in this position until 9 October 1975 when he was retired following the replacement of the NRC by the Supreme Military Council military government. [10] He was succeeded by William Adjei Thompson. [3]
Habada was married with eight children. [4] His hobbies included reading,gardening,playing basketball,and playing volleyball. [10] [11]
Ignatius Kutu Acheampong was a military head of state of Ghana who ruled from 13 January 1972 to 5 July 1978,when he was deposed in a palace coup. He was later executed by firing squad.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister is the Ghana government official who is responsible for overseeing the administration of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The region was initially an administrative district within the Eastern Region of Ghana. The region was formally created by law in July 1982 by Provisional National Defence Council government through the Greater Accra Region Law as a legally separate region. Currently,the southern boundary of the Greater Accra Region is the Atlantic Ocean. To the east is the Volta Region,Central Region to the west and the Eastern Region to the north. There are currently sixteen administrative regions in Ghana.

William Adjei Thompson was a Ghanaian soldier and politician. He was the Greater Accra Regional Commissioner from 1975 to 1977,the Regional Commissioner for the Brong Ahafo Region from 1977 to 1978,and the Central Regional Commissioner from 1978 to June 1979. In 1985,he was reappointed Greater Accra Regional Minister and in 1986,appointed Regional Secretary for the Western Region. He remained in this position until April 1988 when he was made Greater Accra Regional Minister for a third time. He served in this capacity until 1991.

He was the first Director of the National Service Secretariat from 1973 to 1975,Regional Commissioner of the Ashanti Region from 1975 to 1977,Greater Accra Regional Commissioner from 1977 to 1978,and the Northern Regional Commissioner from 1978 to 1979.
