PCMC Hockey Stadium also known as The Major Dhyanachand Stadium is a field hockey stadium in the city of Pune, India. It has a seating capacity of 5,000 people. It serves as the home ground of the hockey franchisee based in Pune Strykers, for World Series Hockey.

History

It was built in 1993, was the first polygrass stadium of the district. It costed 1.15 crore to build this stadium. Women's hockey matches of National Games which were held in 1993.

Major renovations

The stadium has been renovated by the PCMC Administration at a cost of 2.75 crore to improve the infrastructure at the stadium. Four high-mast floodlights with a capacity of 1,200 lux have been set up at the stadium. Seven matches of the home side, Pune Strykers, are scheduled in World Series Hockey between 29 February to 2 April. [1]

Pune Metro Rapid transit in Pune

Pune Metro is a metro rail based rapid transit system under construction to serve the city of Pune, India. As of December 2019, the system comprises 3 lines with a total length of 54.58 km. The 16.59 km Line 1 PCMC Bhavan – Swargate will be elevated between PCMC Bhavan to Range Hills, from where it will run underground. Line 2 will run from Vanaz to Ramwadi covering a distance of 14.66 km on an elevated viaduct. Lines 1 and 2 are expected to be operational in 2021. The 23.33-km elevated Line 3 will run from the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in Hinjawadi via Balewadi to Civil Court. All three lines will align at the Civil Court interchange station.

The Shri Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge, Balewadi, Pune is an Indian sports complex. The complex is situated at about 14–15 km from Pune downtown and 4–5 km from Hinjawadi, Pune. Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Pune is the civic body that governs the neighbourhood of Pimpri Chinchwad, north western city limits of Pune, India. It was established on 11 October 1982 to govern the newly industrialized towns of Chinchwad, Akurdi, Pimpri & Bhosari. It governs an area of 181 km2 with a population of 1.72 million. The executive power of the PCMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer appointed by the Government of Maharashtra. The position is held by Shravan Hardikar since April 2017. The general body of the PCMC consists of 128 directly elected councilors, popularly known as "corporators", headed by a mayor. Rahul Jadhav (BJP) was elected as the mayor and Sachin Chinchwade (BJP) as the deputy mayor in August 2018. The PCMC headquarters is situated on the Old Pune Mumbai Highway alongside the freeway in the city of Pune.

World Series Hockey

World Series Hockey (WSH) was a professional league for field hockey competition in India. It was organised by Indian Hockey Federation and Nimbus Sports with the objective to reinvigorate hockey in India. It was contested among eight franchisee-based teams consisting of players from India and around the world. The entire event took place on home and away basis culminating into multi header playoffs. Australian Dennis Meredith, a member of the FIH panel of tournament directors is the technical director of the WSH. It is currently sponsored by tyre manufacturers, Bridgestone, and therefore officially known as Bridgestone World Series Hockey.

2012 World Series Hockey

2012 World Series Hockey better known as Bridgestone World Series Hockey, abbreviated as Bridgestone WSH, was the first season of the hockey tournament World Series Hockey, a professional league for field hockey in India. The tournament was to take place from 17 December 2011 to 22 January 2012 but later was postponed to 29 February 2012 owing to Olympic qualifiers. Eight teams took part in this competition. The opening ceremony and the first match was held at Sector 42 Stadium, Chandigarh, where Bhopal Badshahs beat Chandigarh Comets 4–3.

Pune Strykers is an Indian professional hockey team based in Pune, Maharashtra that plays in the World Series Hockey. Currently, Canadian Ken Pereira is the captain of the team and is coached by Gundeep Singh. The team is owned by Sai Grace Sports & Events Private Limited. PCMC Hockey Stadium in Pune is the home ground of Pune Strykers.

The Annasaheb Magar Sports Stadium is a multi purposed stadium in the city of Pune, India. The stadium is owned and managed by the PCMC Administration. The ground was named after Indian National Congress leader Annasaheb Magar who was Member of Parliament from 1977 to 1980 from Khed.

Rainbow Bus Rapid Transit System

Rainbow BRTS is a bus rapid transit system in the city of Pune. The system is operated by the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML). The infrastructure has been developed by the Pune Municipal Corporation & Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Pune. The project currently envisages 113 km of dedicated bus corridors along with buses, bus stations, terminals and intelligent transit management system.
