Prime Minister Gati Shakti, also known as National Master Plan for Multi-modal Connectivity (IAST Pradhānmantrī Gatī Shaktī) is an Indian megaproject worth $1.2 trillion USD to provide competitive advantage for manufacturing in India. [1]
On 15 August 2021, Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India announced this project to boost Indian Economic Growth. [2] [3] The plan was launched on 13 October 2021 to provide multimodal connectivity infrastructure to all economic zones of India and approved on 21 October 2021 by Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs. [4]
The plan aims to bring all relevant ministries and departments of Government of India together and create a digital platform [5] [6] [7] for more holistic and integrated planning of projects. [8] For instance, it will interconnect ministries of Indian Roadways, Indian Railways, Indian airways and Indian waterways for easy movement of goods. [9] It will also enable transparency in monitoring current projects and provide information about upcoming connectivity projects to the community.[ citation needed ] The main objectives of the plan is to achieve a sustained 5 trillion dollar economy and an increase to 20 trillion dollar economy by 2040. [10] [11] As part of this plan, Indian Railway will also develop 400 new Vande Bharat Express in 3 years. [12] This plan will also add steam to 196 critical infrastructure gap projects [13] [14] [15] from which 22 infrastructure projects have been initially approved. [16] Indian Railways will also revamp 200 railway terminals within India with modern facilities [17] and will additionally build 300 new terminals in next five years. [18]
Expressways are the highest class of roads in India. In July 2023, the total length of expressways in India was 5,930 km (3,680 mi), with 11,127.69 km (6,914.43 mi) under construction. These are controlled-access highways where entrance and exits are controlled by the use of cloverleaf, three-way, trumpet or grade separated interchanges that are incorporated into the design of the expressway and designed for maximum speed of 120 km/h, whereas National highways are flyover access or tolled, where entrance and exit is through the side of the flyover, at each intersection of highway with road, flyovers are provided to bypass the city/town/village traffic and these highways are designed for speed of 100 km/h. Some roads are not access-controlled expressways but are still named expressways, such as the Bagodara–Tarapur Expressway, Biju Expressway, these are actually state highways that are not declared by the central government as an Expressway, hence not an Expressway or National Highway.
Indian Railways operates India's railway system and comes under the purview of the Ministry of Railways of Government of India. As of 2023, it maintains over 108,706 km (67,547 mi) of tracks and operates over 13,000 trains daily. According to the Ministry of Railways, a route capable of supporting trains operating at more than 160 km/h (100 mph) is considered as a higher speed or semi-high speed rail line.
Piyush Vedprakash Goyal is an Indian politician and chartered accountant who is serving as Minister of Commerce and Industry since 2019. He also served as Minister of Textiles and Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. He was elevated to the Cabinet Minister position on 3 September 2017. Formerly a Member of Parliament for Rajya Sabha from the state of Maharashtra, he is also the former Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha. Goyal was elected as member of 18th Lok Sabha Representing Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency.
Ayodhya Junction railway station, officially named as Ayodhya Dham Junction railway station, is a railway station in the city of Ayodhya in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is located at Dharmakata, 1.5 km (0.93 mi) south-west from the city centre and 1.2 km (0.75 mi) south-east from Ram Mandir. It is one of two railway junction stations in the city; the other one is Faizabad Junction. The station falls under the Northern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. The station's code is "AY".

The initiative includes plans to connect rural areas with high-speed internet networks. It consists of three core components: the development of secure and stable digital infrastructure, delivering government services digitally, and universal digital literacy.
The Indian Government is undertaking several initiatives to upgrade its aging railway infrastructure and enhance its quality of service. The Railway Ministry has announced plans to invest ₹5,400,000 crore to upgrade the railways by 2030. Upgrades include 100% electrification of railways, upgrading existing lines with more facilities and higher speeds, expansion of new lines, upgrading railway stations, introducing and eventually developing a large high-speed train network interconnecting major cities in different parts of India and development of various dedicated freight corridors to cut down cargo costs within the country.

Rangpo railway station is an under-construction railway station lying on Sevoke-Rangpo Railway Line in Pakyong District of Sikkim. Its code is RNGPO. It will serve Rangpo city, and three districts of Sikkim, which are Pakyong District, Gangtok District and Mangan District. It is 38 km (24 mi) from the state capital of Gangtok and 21 km (13 mi) from Pakyong Airport. The station will consist of three platforms and four lines after completion. It is expected to be completed by December 2023.
Vande Bharat Express is a medium-distance superfast express service operated by Indian Railways. It is a reserved, air-conditioned chair car service connecting cities that are less than 800 km (500 mi) apart or take less than ten hours to travel with existing services. The train was a part of the 'Make in India' initiative by the government and entered commercial service on 15 February 2019.

North Eastern Railway Connectivity Project is an multi phased railway connectivity project in Northeast India which comprises states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura and it also includes the state of Sikkim. These states come under Northeast Frontier Railway Zone of Indian Railways. This Railway project is considered as strategically important for India because it connects all the border states in this region and also close to ASEAN countries.
The Vande Bharat trainset, formerly known as Train 18, is an Indian electric multiple unit chair car trainset designed and developed by Indian Railways at its Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. The train achieved a maximum speed of 183 km/h (114 mph) during its trial runs but the operational speed of the train is restricted to 160 km/h (99 mph) due to tracks' inability to support such speeds.
Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is an ongoing Indian Railways mission launched in February 2023 by the Ministry of Railways to redevelop 1275 stations nationwide. Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is a short-distance service that operates on an inter-city rail network to connect major cities within a distance of around 100–250 km (62–155 mi). RCF Kapurthala, had rolled out the first Basic Unit of Namo Bharat Rapid Rail in April 2024. This train will be part of the 'Make in India' initiative by the Government of India and entered commercial service in September 2024.
