Padraic Davis is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player. He played for the Fr Manning Gaels club and the Longford county team. He also managed the Longford county team.

Playing career

Davis played for the Fr Manning Gaels club, winning four Longford Senior Football Championships, three consecutively from 1996–98, and again in 2001.

He played for Longford for 12 years from 1995 to 2007. He was Longford's leading forward for many years in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and one of the greatest players the county has ever produced. He won an O'Byrne Cup with Longford in 2000. Davis was placed on the Longford Dream Team of 2000-2020 at left corner forward.

He played for Leinster in the Railway Cup (1998–2004), winning it on two occasions.

Managerial career

After retiring from playing Davis began managing at club and inter-county level. In 2010, he managed his home club St Vincent's to a Longford Minor Football Championship. That same year he was the forwards coach to the Longford minor team which won the Leinster Minor Football Championship. He was manager of the Longford under-21 team, which he led to a Leinster Final in 2011, but lost out to Wexford by a point. He was also Longford junior manager during this time and was a coach/selector with the Longford senior team in 2011, 2012 and 2013, winning Division 3 and 4 National League titles in that period.

In 2015, Davis became manager of Mohill GAA in County Leitrim. During three years at the helm, he won two Senior Championships, two U-21 Championships, as well as three consecutive Senior Leagues.

In the Autumn of 2018, Davis was appointed Longford Senior Football Manager. [1] He won the O’Byrne Cup in 2020, bridging a 20 year gap to their previous one in 2000.He was given a two-year extension in 2020 until the end of 2022. [2] [3] But he stepped down in July 2021 after Longford's heavy loss to Meath in the Leinster Championship, referring to his family, his "property market" job and the difficulties of managing at that level. Paul Barden is a former Gaelic footballer who played at senior level for the Longford county team from October 1998 until February 2015 when he announced his retirement. He was the longest serving inter-county player in the country until his retirement. He won an O'Byrne Cup medal with them in 2000, he also won 2 O'Byrne Shield medals in 2006 and 2007. He was also a member of the Ireland international rules football team in 2002 and 2006. He also won a Railway Cup with Leinster in 2001 and 2002. In 2011, he captained Longford to victory over Roscommon in the National Football League Div 4 final at Croke Park and in 2012, Longford were back at Croke Park, this time for the Division 3 final and again won beating Wexford with Barden once again captain.

Ben Tansey was the son of Bernard Tansey and Kathleen Glynn of Caltraghduff, Ballyforan, County Roscommon. Tansey played senior intercounty football and hurling for two different counties, Roscommon and Meath.

Joe Sheridan is an Irish Gaelic footballer. He plays with the Seneschalstown club and the Meath county team.

Diarmaid Marsden is a retired Gaelic footballer who played at senior level for the Armagh county team and won an All-Ireland Senior Championship medal in 2002. He was also an All-Star. Marsden won two county titles with his club Clan na Gael and a Sigerson Cup medal with Queen's University Belfast.

Enda Williams is a Gaelic footballer from County Longford, Ireland. He was a panel member of the Longford county team from 2004 to 2011. In 2012, he joined the Leitrim county team, where he spent 18 months before announcing his return to Longford in November 2013.

Cormac Costello is a Gaelic football forward for the Dublin county team, with which he has won three All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals and four National Football League medals. The former Ardscoil Rís student plays his club football for Whitehall Colmcille.

The 2019 O'Byrne Cup was played by county teams of Leinster GAA in December 2018 and January 2019.
