Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Nazriati (PTI-N) is a splinter group of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). It was created by Akhtar Iqbal Dar in 2012 after a disagreement with Imran Khan, one of the founders of PTI. [2] [3]
PTI-N was formed due to differences within PTI. Like many members of the past, Dar alleged that the PTI, founded in the name of justice, has become a turncoat party by inducting politicians from other parties. [2]
In January 2024, in a surprising turn of events, the PTI accused its breakaway group, the PTI-N, of reneging on an agreement under which PTI candidates would be fielded by the PTI-N. It was allowed to contest the election on the election symbol. Subsequently, Akhtar Iqbal Dar, the chairman of PTI-N, alleged that the PTI candidates had presented “fake” nomination papers to the returning officers. [4]
The PTI-N was accused of reneging on an agreement that allowed PTI candidates to contest elections under the PTI-N banner. [5] [6]

The 2022 Azadi March I was a protest march initiated by the ousted former Pakistani prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party chairman Imran Khan against the government of his successor, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. On 24 May 2022, Khan announced a long march towards Islamabad starting on 25 May 2022. Khan lead the march from Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where his provincial government helped him. Senior PTI members lead the march from Lahore, the capital of Punjab.
General elections were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, 25 July 2018 to elect the 51 members of 15th National Assembly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) obtained a landslide victory in the province by winning 37 general seats and increased their margin of victory from 2013. The PTI also won 8 out of 10 reserved seats while the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) won 1 reserved seat each.

On 5 August 2023, after the approval of the results of the 2023 digital census by the Council of Common Interests headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, elections have been delayed for several months, as new delimitations will be published on 14 December 2023. On 2 November 2023, the Election Commission of Pakistan announced, in agreement with the President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, that the elections should be held on 8 February 2024. The Election Commission of Pakistan v. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, informally referred to as the PTI intra-party elections case, was a court case which involved a three-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP), comprising Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, and Justice Musarrat Hilali. In this case, the SCP affirmed the initial decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of prohibiting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from retaining its electoral symbol, citing alleged irregularities in its intra-party elections conducted on 2 December 2023.
