The 1960 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XVII Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event that was held from August 25 to September 11, 1960, in Rome, Italy. The city of Rome had previously been awarded the administration of the 1908 Summer Olympics, but following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 1906, Rome had no choice but to decline and pass the honour to London.
The Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) is an international multi-sport event organized by the Commonwealth Games Federation. The games are held every four years with the current Commonwealth Games format. The first version was held in Edinburgh, Scotland from 10 to 14 August 2000. The age limitation of the athletes is 14 to 18.
The 6th Asian Games were held from 9 to 20 December 1970 in Bangkok, Thailand. Seoul, South Korea, had been selected to host the 6th Games but it declined due to both financial reasons and security threats from neighboring North Korea.. The previous host, Thailand, stepped in to save the Asiad. 2,400 athletes from 18 countries competed in this Asiad, where yachting made its debut.
The 8th All Africa Games were 5–17 October 2003 in Abuja, Nigeria. 53 countries participated in 23 sports. The main venue was the newly constructed Abuja Stadium. The organizing committee was headed by Nigerian Amos Adamu.
The 1993 South Asian Games, officially the 6th South Asian Games, took place from December 20 to December 27, 1993, in Dhaka, Bangladesh and thus in SAF games history, Dhaka became the first city to host the event for second time.
Poland competed at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, Italy. 185 competitors, 156 men and 29 women, took part in 108 events in 17 sports.
The 1999 South Asian Games were held in Kathmandu, Nepal from September 25 to October 4, 1999. King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev declared the games open amidst a grand ceremony.
El Salvador first competed in the Olympic Games at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, Mexico. It has participated in every Summer Olympic Games since that time, excluding those held in 1976 and 1980. They have never competed in the Olympic Winter Games. El Salvador has not earned a medal at any Olympic Games.
The 1989 South Asian Games(or 4th SAF Games) were held in Islamabad, Pakistan from 20 October to 27 October 1989.
Pakistan competed in Manchester for their ninth Commonwealth Games. It sent mixed teams in Athletics, Badminton, Squash and Table Tennis. All male teams in Boxing, Cycling, Hockey, Judo, Shooting, Weightlifting and Wrestling, and an all female team in Swimming. In total it sent 46 males and five females. It won its only gold in Boxing, three silvers in Weightlifting and bronze medals in Hockey, Shooting and Wrestling. Finishing 19th overall in the medals table.

The country participated in all of the 10 sports: athletics, boxing, kabbadi, squash, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, weightlifting and wrestling. Its medal tally of 97 placed it second amongst the seven nations. Weightlifting was again its most successful event, where it won 28 medals with athletics a close second with 27 medals.
Pakistan participated in the 5th South Asian Games held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 1991. These games saw women athletes participate for the first time in athletics, table tennis and tennis. Men participated in all the 10 sports: athletics, basketball, boxing, football, shooting, swimming, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, and weightlifting. Its medal tally of 85 placed it third amongst the seven nations. Weightlifting was its most successful event, where it won 30 medals.
Pakistan was the host nation for the second time when the 9th South Asian Games were held in its capital, Islamabad between 29 March and 7 April 2004. The country participated in all 15 sports. Its medal tally of 143 placed it second amongst the seven nations. Swimming was its most successful event, where it won 27 medals, though without any gold. Athletics were a close second with 25 medals and shooting third with 24 medals. It won the most golds in boxing with 9.
Bangladesh participated at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. The Bangladesh Olympic Association announced that its delegation for the games would consist to 30 athletes in 10 sports. The total of 30 athletes consisted of eight athletes in shooting, four in weightlifting, three each in cycling, table tennis and boxing; two each in athletics, badminton, swimming and wrestling; and one in gymnastics.
Pakistan participated at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. The Pakistan Olympic Association announced that its delegation for the games would consist of 62 athletes in 11 sports, but only 48 competed. Pakistan participated in badminton, boxing, gymnastics, judo, lawn bowling, shooting, swimming, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling.
The 2014 Commonwealth Games were held in Glasgow, Scotland, from 23 July to 3 August 2014.
Turkmenistan participated in the 2014 Asian Games held in Incheon, South Korea from 19 September to 4 October 2014.
