Palash Sen is an Indian singer, songwriter, musician, composer, physician, director and actor. [1] He is known as the founder and frontman of India's Rock/Pop band Euphoria. [2] [3] [4]
Born in a family of doctors, he comes from a Baidya Brahmin family of Rajvaidyas (Sen Sharma) and is the 17th generation physician of his family. He was born in Lucknow, brought up in Delhi. Earlier, he used to stay in Connaught Place's Railway Colony and Srinagar. [5]
He did his schooling from St. Columba's School, Delhi. He was active in theatre and singing right from his school days and that's where he realised his singing capabilities. Thereafter he studied medicine at the University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) and Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, New Delhi, and received his M.B.B.S. and M.S. in Orthopedics. [5]
While in college, Sen founded his band Euphoria. He had started composing songs from in college days and was writing them in English. His first composition is believed to be 'Heaven on the Seventh Floor' which was an ode to his college hostel room, on the seventh floor. After finishing college, Sen met DJ Bhaduri, and their friendship took off instantly. The duo have been working together ever since, and Sen regards DJ as the backbone of Euphoria. Euphoria's first release, 'Dhoom Pichuck Dhoom,' was a major commercial hit and received rave reviews from the critics worldwide. [6] [7]
In 2022, Palash Sen appeared on Jay-Ho! The Jay Kumar Show and shared that he's the 17th generation doctor and musician in his family. He also talked about the origins of his band, Euphoria. He said back in 1988, a group of medical students in Delhi formed a rock band to impress girls. Over time, Euphoria evolved into a Hindi fusion rock group and he is the lead vocalist of that band. Euphoria went on to become noted Indian band, with five hit studio albums, one compilation and seventeen music videos. Sen's Bollywood debut came with Filhaal... (2002) directed by Meghna Gulzar, which also starred Tabu and Sushmita Sen. Thereafter, he appeared in "And It Rained" segment of anthology film, Mumbai Cutting (2008). Sen has also composed an eight-and-a-half-minute song for the film, and Euphoria performed on it. Sen has done multiple television appearances, most notably FameX (2006), Channel V Popstars , MTV Rock On (with Euphoria, 2008), MTV Unplugged (with Euphoria, 2011), NDTV Greenathon (with Euphoria, 2012). Dhoom (transl. Blast) is a 2004 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Sanjay Gadhvi and produced by Aditya Chopra, who wrote the story with the script by Vijay Krishna Acharya, under Yash Raj Films. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Uday Chopra, Esha Deol and Rimi Sen. It is the first installment of the Dhoom franchise. The cinematography and editing were handled by Nirav Shah and Rameshwar S. Bhagat, while the soundtrack and score were composed by Pritam and Salim–Sulaiman respectively.
Indian Ocean is an Indian rock band formed in New Delhi in 1990, who are widely recognized as the pioneers of the fusion rock genre in India. Susmit Sen, Asheem Chakravarty, Rahul Ram and Amit Kilam were band members until Chakravarty died on 25 December 2009, after which Tuheen Chakravorty and Himanshu Joshi were officially inducted into the band as successors. After the departure of Susmit Sen in 2013, Rahul Ram is the only founding member who appeared on the band's debut album Indian Ocean. Sanjeev Sharma has collaborated with them as lyricist on many albums.

Euphoria is an Indian pop rock band formed by Dr. Palash Sen in 1998 in Delhi, India. The name "Euphoria", is a term used in Psychiatry to describe a feeling one gets in the state of Mania, was decided upon by Sen, who at the time was a student of medicine at the University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi. Euphoria has released 7 studio albums. They have released 16 singles by adopting the DIY method, and embracing the digital revolution in the music industry. They were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012 by the Indian Recording Arts Academy at the Palm Expo in Mumbai. Alongside jaunty pop rock songs, Euphoria have also been known to produce music with a satirical message. Their 2011 album's title-track, Item, pokes fun at Bollywood for its obsession with so-called ‘item numbers’, Gumsum was written as a letter to India's Prime Minister at the time Manmohan Singh, whilst Jeene Do addresses the common man's frustration with terrorism and politics.

Filhaal... (transl. Momentary) is a 2002 Indian romance film directed by Meghna Gulzar. It stars Sushmita Sen, Tabu, Sanjay Suri and Palash Sen. Meghna Gulzar, daughter of lyricist Gulzar and actress Raakhee, made her directorial debut with the film. The film was critically well received, especially the performance of Sushmita Sen, who was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.
