Palazhi is a suburb of Kozhikode city in India. It has risen to prominence quite recently because of the UL cyberpark, the Government Cyber park and the creation of a township called HiLITE City and Landmark world and many other flat projectshere. Palazhi town is four kilometres from Thondayad junction in Kozhikode city. Metro International Cardiac Center and the Cradle Maternity hospital are situated at Palazhi.

History

100 years ago, the beach area was the centre of the city of Kozhikode. In the 1970s, the downtown shifted to the Mananchira area, and in the 1980s, Mavoor Road became the centre of activity. In the 2010s, the Thondayad Bypass area and the suburb of Palazhi on the Airport road have emerged as the new city centres with a vibrant night life.

Palazhi was originally a village with waterlogged streets in monsoon creating problems for the residents. Recently the area has been highly commercialized because of the proximity to the highway road and the eastern part of the city. The creation of Hilite Township and Hilite Mall has increased traffic issues in and around Palazhi.

Methottuthazham

Methottuthazham is a small village on the western side of Palazhi. This place is famous for the Bhayankavu Temple and the Ollur Shiva Temple. City suburbs like Vazhipokku, Manathal Thazham, Poovangal, Mecheri Thazham, Kaithapadam, Kattukulangara and Kommeri are near to Methott Thazham. Methott Thazham is directly connected by a main road to Kottooli and Pottammal junctions.

Flooded Streets

Every year, the streets of Palazhi area gets flooded from June to August. During this period, access to the houses in this area becomes very difficult either by foot or by vehicles. As the flooded area is quite large, no solutions have been devised yet for this issue. [1]

Hilite Township

Hilite township is a residential and commercial facility located at Palazhi junction. Hilite Mall is the largest shopping mall of North Kerala with 1,400,000 sq feet of shopping space. It is part of the Hilite City (11.256873°N 75.821287°E), an integrated township project almost completed now. [2] The actor Nirmal Palazhi is from this place.

Mankavu is a suburb of Kozhikode, in Kerala, India. It is known as the site of the Zamorin's kovilakam and it is called Mankavu Padinhare Kovilakam. Mankavu derives its name from the Zamorin's Mango Orchard that was in the area some historic records says that earlier was known as "Manavedan kavu" and got shortened into "Mankave". The community is primarily residential, and is a common residential location for students from the local Zamorin's Guruvayurappan College. Krishna Varma and Ravi Varma, famous rebels of Calicut were born and brought up in Mankavu.

HiLITE Mall is being constructed as a part of the HiLITE City which has 3,200,000 sq ft (300,000 m2) in first phase and 10,000,000 sq ft (930,000 m2) in the second phase, an integrated township project from HiLITE Builders. The mall location is very close to the IT Parks, which gives a decent footfalls during weekdays as well. The mall is being constructed in two phases, phase 1 is complete and phase 2 is under construction which is scheduled to complete by 2019 Q1. Phase 2 will include an eight screen multiplex and NESTO Hypermarket chain. Hi Lite Mall is a huge mall, where locals prefer spending the evenings. There is ample paid parking at the mall. Kottooli and Pottammal Place in Kerala, India

Kottooly and Pottammal are two nearby junctions on the eastern side of Kozhikode city in India. They are at a distance of 650 meters. The Mavoor Road originates from Mananchira area in downtown Calicut and proceeds to Arayidathu-palam junction through the KSRTC bus station and the new bus station areas.

After the medical college, the road is extended further to the little village of Mavoor but the term 'Mavoor Road' refers to the section between the city and the Medical college.

Kozhikode Beach Place in Kerala, India
