Pam Galloway (born September 11,1955) is an American physician and surgeon and a former Republican member of the Wisconsin Senate,representing the 29th District from 2011 through her retirement on March 16,2012.
Galloway graduated with a BA from the University of Chicago in 1976,and earned her MD from the University of Virginia in 1980. Galloway is a member of a number of medical committees,and was the past Chairperson of the Marathon Republican Party. She was elected to the Wisconsin Senate in 2010. [1] [2] [3]
She had been facing an effort to recall her from office. [4] However,on March 16,2012,Galloway announced her resignation from office due to health issues in her family, [5] leaving the Senate evenly split between Democrats and Republicans. Galloway's seat was filled in the recall election,which had already been scheduled. [6] She was succeeded by fellow Republican Jerry Petrowski.
Galloway relocated to Warsaw,Indiana where she announced in May 2015 that she would make a bid for the United States House of Representatives and run for Marlin Stutzman's seat in Indiana's 3rd congressional district. [7] As of July 2015 she raised $51,423 in campaign contributions,with $50,000 coming from loans she made to herself. [8] [9]

Incumbent Democratic Senator Herb Kohl retired instead of running for re-election to a fifth term. This was the first open Senate seat in Wisconsin since 1988,when Kohl won his first term.

A special election was held to fill the remainder of the term in the United States House of Representatives for Wisconsin's 7th congressional district in the 116th United States Congress. Sean Duffy,the incumbent representative,announced his resignation effective September 23,2019,as his wife was about to give birth to a child with a heart condition. Governor Tony Evers chose January 27,2020,as the date for the special election,with the primaries scheduled for December 30,2019. However,the Department of Justice said that this schedule would be in violation of federal law,since it would provide insufficient time for overseas and military voters to receive ballots. Evers then rescheduled the primaries for February 18,2020,and the general election for May 12,2020.
The 2022 Wisconsin Senate elections were held on Tuesday,November 8,2022. 17 of the 33 seats in the Wisconsin State Senate were up for election—the odd-numbered districts. This was the first election to take place after redistricting following the 2020 United States census. This was the only election to take place under the redistricting plan set out in 2022. Before the election,21 Senate seats were held by Republicans,and 12 seats were held by Democrats. 11 Republican seats and six Democratic seats were up in this election. The primary election took place on August 9,2022.
