Paola Amadei is an Italian diplomat and ambassador of Italy to Iran since March 2024. [1] She entered the diplomatic corps in 1992. [2] [3]
She graduated with Political Science with honors from the University of Rome La Sapienza in 1988. She had her master's degree in Advanced European Studies at the College of Europe in Bruges in 1992.
In her first foreign post,she was Deputy Head of Mission and Head of the Commercial Office at the Italian Embassy in Singapore from 1996 to 2000. Amadei was appointed as the Italian ambassador to Oman from 24 September 2012 –1 March 2016. [4] From June 2018 to January 2020,she was head of Cabinet to the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs,Minister Plenipotentiary,Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Rome. She was the Italian ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain from January 2020. [5] [6] Since March 2024 she is the ambassador of Italy to Iran.

The foreign relations of the Italian Republic are the Italian government's external relations with the outside world. Located in Europe,Italy has been considered a major Western power since its unification in 1860. Its main allies are the NATO countries and the EU states,two entities of which Italy is a founding member. Italy was admitted to the United Nations in 1955,and it is a member and a strong supporter of a wide number of international organisations,such as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD),the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade and World Trade Organization,the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE),the Council of Europe,and the Central European Initiative.
Bahrain plays a modest,moderating role in regional politics and adheres to the views of the Arab League on Middle East peace and Palestinian rights. Since achieving independence in 1971,Bahrain has maintained friendly relations with most of its neighbours and with the world community. It generally pursues a policy of close consultation with neighbouring states and works to narrow areas of disagreement.
Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa was a Bahraini royal and politician who served as the Prime Minister of Bahrain from 10 January 1970 until his death in 2020. He took office over a year before Bahrain's independence on 15 August 1971. He was the longest-serving prime minister in the world. Under the 2002 Constitution he lost some of his powers,with the King now having the authority to appoint and dismiss ministers.

Liselotte Ellegaard Kjærsgaard Plesner is a Danish diplomat and civil servant. She is the current Ambassador of Denmark to Saudi Arabia,concurrently serving as ambassador to Kuwait,Bahrain,Oman and Yemen,having previously served as Permanent Representative of Denmark to NATO,from 2018 to 2022,the first woman to hold that position.
