Paras Masroor is a Pakistani theatre and television actor and screenwriter.

He has played the role of Torah Khan in Momina Duraid's Sang-e-Mar Mar (2016) for which he received Hum Award for Best Supporting Actor. [1] [2] He further appeared in films Na Maloom Afrad (2014) and Mah e Mir (2016). [3]

Early life and education

He belongs to a Sindhi Sufi family involved in the arts : his grandfather, Ghulam Ali Masroor, who went by the pen-name Faqeer, wrote Sufi poetry in six languages (Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Sindhi, Seraiki and English), while his father, Beydil Masroor, is a musician and writer who also served as senior director/producer for PTV for some 35 years and his mother Beena Masroor is an actress, Paras inheriting his interest in arts from them, as he is involved in sculpture, painting, drawing and music as well (he can play the tabla and the guitar). He got his Master's in sociology and mass communications from the Karachi University before studying acting at the NAPA. [4]

Career

Starting his career as a theatre actor, he moved on to television. [4] [5] He also wrote content for different channels, such as scripts for Mohammed Ehteshamuddin, and also worked behind the camera as an assistant director. [6]

The film is based on the life of the famous poet Mir Taqi Mir, role played by Fahad Mustafa. Film also stars Iman Ali, Sanam Saeed, Alyy Khan and Manzar Sehbai in lead roles. It was the official submission by the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee as the country's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards but it was not nominated.

Na Maloom Afraad, is a 2014 Pakistani action comedy film co-written and directed by Nabeel Qureshi in his directorial debut. It stars Javed Sheikh, Fahad Mustafa, Mohsin Abbas Haider with supporting cast of Urwa Hocane, Kubra Khan and Salman Shahid. The story follows Shakeel (Sheikh), Farhaan (Mustafa) and Moon (Haider), three poor struggling individuals who chase every possible means of becoming rich, all getting into trouble as they struggle to fulfill their desires and ambitions through questionably moral ways.

Aangan, alternatively spelled Angan, is a period novel by Pakistani novelist and short story writer Khadija Mastoor. Published in 1962, it is hailed as a masterpiece of Urdu literature. It won Mastoor the 1963 Adamjee Literary Award for Urdu prose and has been translated into 13 languages. English translations of the novel by Daisy Rockwell titled Inner Courtyard and The Women's Courtyard were published in 2000 and 2018, respectively. A Pakistani TV series adaptation of the novel starring Mawra Hocane, Ahad Raza Mir, Ahsan Khan and Sajal Aly was aired on Hum TV from 2018 to 2019. Dhoop Ki Deewar is a ZEE5 exclusive and Zindagi-original Pakistani drama web series. It is written by Umera Ahmad and directed by Haseeb Hassan. The web series has an ensemble cast including Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir in lead roles while Zaib Rehman, Savera Nadeem, Samiya Mumtaz, Samina Ahmed, Manzar Sehbai in prominent roles. Set in the backdrop of the Indo-Pak conflict, the web series depicts how peace is better than war.

<i>Hum Tum</i> (2022 TV series) Pakistani television series

Hum Tum is a 2022 Pakistani Ramadan special television comedy drama series, produced by Momina Duraid under her banner MD Productions. Directed by Danish Nawaz and written by Saima Akram Chaudhry, it aired on Hum TV from 3 April 2022 to 3 May 2022, with the last episode airing on the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr 2022. The series starred Ahad Raza Mir, Ramsha Khan, Sarah Khan and Junaid Khan.
