Parvesh Singh Cheena (born July 22, 1979) is an American actor. He is best known for his roles as Gupta in the TV series Outsourced and as Sunil Odhav on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend . He also voices Bodhi in T.O.T.S. and Blades in Transformers: Rescue Bots .

Early life

Cheena was born in Elk Grove Village, Illinois and is of Indian descent. He grew up in Naperville, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and went to Waubonsie Valley High School. [1] [2] He studied musical theatre at the Chicago College of Performing Arts. [3]

Career

In 2002, he scored his first role in a feature film, Barbershop , playing the character Samir. [4] He would play Samir again in the 2004 sequel, Barbershop 2: Back in Business . [5]

In 2007, he would play characters in the films Because I Said So and Universal Remote.[ citation needed ] The next year, he acted in The Other End of the Line and The Ode .[ citation needed ] In 2009, he played Zerban in the film House Broken .[ citation needed ] He would play Abhay in the 2014 film Hello I Must Be Going . [6] In 2015, he would play Eric in Everything Before Us .[ citation needed ]

He played Franklin in the 2016 film, Time Toys. [7] In 2017, he would play Rohan in the film Literally, Right Before Aaron .[ citation needed ] He played a pet shop owner named Mr. Richland in the 2019 film Lady and the Tramp . [8]

In 2020, he would play the character Jimit Uncle in the film Definition Please . [9] He would play an electronics store manager in 2021, in the film Music.[ citation needed ]

In 2022, he voiced a character in The Bob's Burgers Movie .[ citation needed ] The next year, he played Garrett in the film Sometimes I Think About Dying . [10] [11]

Personal life

Cheena is gay. He told Michael Jensen of AfterElton in September 2010 that he came out in college, told his family at age 21, and was in a relationship with a script coordinator at the time. [12] In August 2021, he criticized representation of gay characters in media, telling Insider that "White people were allowed to be gay, in a sense, or be queer as an identifier. People see our color and ethnicity first before our sexuality." [13]

He is also a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. [14]

He currently resides in Los Angeles, California. [15]
