Pasha Eshghi (born December 15, 1992) is a Canadian filmmaker. He is known for co-creating both BizNasty Does BC and NHL First Timer, as well as for his work producing content for the Barstool Sports hockey podcast, Spittin' Chiclets.
Pasha Eshghi was born in Vancouver, BC. He attended Collingwood School for 12 years before attending The University of British Columbia where he graduated from the Film Production program in 2015. He is an avid New Jersey Devils fan. [1]
In 2015, as he was finishing up his last semester in film school, Eshghi produced & directed SWERVE, an action/comedy web series about a limo driver and his adventures with his passengers. The series comprised six episodes and starred Alexander Ludwig. [2] Eshghi cites the production of SWERVE, and more specifically, the challenges he faced trying to secure distribution for it, as a pivotal learning experience in his early career. [3]
In 2017, Eshghi teamed up with Paul Bissonnette to create BizNasty Does BC, a mockumentary series exploring British Columbia whilst featuring 17 past and present NHL stars. [4] [5] After viewing the series, Barstool Sports president David Portnoy insisted that it be released on his network. In early 2018, after months of negotiations, the series was sold to Barstool Sports and distributed through all of their platforms. [6] [7] [8]
Eshghi appears onscreen regularly throughout the series as he portrays himself, the producer, in an exaggerated role for comedic effect. This is not the first time he has made an appearance in one of his own projects, as he previously played the role of an airline captain in SWERVE. Additionally, in 2018, Eshghi appeared in a series of skits aired on Sportsnet where he impersonates Roberto Luongo. [9]
In late 2018, Eshghi struck a deal with the NHL to create the series NHL First Timer, where people are taken to their first hockey games and given a VIP experience in an effort to convert them into hockey fans. [10] Over the course of the series a diverse crowd of people are featured as guests, ranging from pro athletes to underprivileged kids. One episode sees the Toronto Maple Leafs and Auston Matthews surprise a terminally ill father and his two sons with a trip to Toronto to watch the Maple Leafs in action. [11]
In August 2019, Eshghi produced a video titled "The CCM Sandbagger Invitational" that featured Sidney Crosby and Nathan Mackinnon competing against Paul Bissonnette and Ryan Whitney in a round of golf. The video was very well received and peaked at number 25 on Youtube's trending videos chart for some time shortly after its release. [12] The video was so well received that it was turned into a series that, at the time of writing, consists of 24 episodes which have garnered over 15.5 million views. [13] [14] . The series stars a wide range of athletes and celebrities, including Sean Avery, Kevin Connolly (actor), David Pastrnak, Josh Richards (internet personality), Jeremy Roenick and Teemu Selanne.
In 2020, Eshghi and Bissonnette partnered with Watson Gloves, Canada's oldest glove company, to produce a series of commercials for them. They released "Dropping the Gloves with BizNasty" in November 2020, and "Spittin' Chiclets x Watson Gloves" in November of 2021. Also in November 2021, Eshghi produced and directed a commercial for Hockey Canada and Watson Gloves. [15]

Roberto Luongo is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He played 19 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Islanders, Florida Panthers, and Vancouver Canucks. In 2022, Luongo was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Luongo is a two-time NHL All-Star and winner of the William M. Jennings Trophy for backstopping his team to the lowest goals against average in the league. He was a finalist for several awards, including the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender, the Lester B. Pearson Award as the top player voted by his peers, and the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league's most valuable player (2007). Luongo is second all time in games played as an NHL goaltender (1,044) and fourth all time in wins (489). He employed the butterfly style of goaltending.
Mike Babcock is a Canadian former ice hockey coach and former player. He spent parts of eighteen seasons as a head coach in the National Hockey League (NHL), beginning when he was named head coach of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, whom he led to the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals. In 2005, Babcock signed with the Detroit Red Wings, winning the Stanley Cup with them in 2008, and helping them to the Stanley Cup playoffs every year during his tenure and setting a record for most wins in Red Wings history. In 2015, he left Detroit to coach the Toronto Maple Leafs, a position he held until he was fired in 2019. During his coaching tenure from 1991 to 2019, Babcock's teams missed the post-season only four times. In 2023, he attempted a return to the NHL with the Columbus Blue Jackets; however, he resigned in disgrace before the beginning of the 2023–24 season amidst investigations into allegations of misconduct.
Sean Christopher Avery is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. During his career in the National Hockey League (NHL), he played left wing for the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, and Dallas Stars, gaining recognition for controversial and disrespectful behaviour both on and off the ice. His agitating playing style led to multiple teams waiving him and to having a contract terminated. He led the league in penalty minutes twice, during the 2003–04 and 2005–06 NHL seasons.

Anthony Rory Twist is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played left wing in the NHL for the St. Louis Blues and Quebec Nordiques between 1989 and 1999, and was a feared enforcer. Twist penned a foreword to the Ross Bernstein book The Code: The Unwritten Rules Of Fighting And Retaliation In The NHL. He also owned a chain of bars named Twister's Iron Bar Saloon, with locations in St. Charles and Imperial Missouri. Twist was co-host of the Smash and Twist show on 590 the Fan in St. Louis. Ryan Whitney is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman. He is an analyst on NHL Network and a co-host of the Barstool Sports hockey podcast Spittin' Chiclets with former NHL enforcer Paul Bissonnette. In 2019, New Amsterdam Vodka collaborated with Whitney to create a pink lemonade-flavored vodka called Pink Whitney.
Wojciech "Wojtek" Wolski is a Polish-Canadian former professional ice hockey forward who played eight seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Colorado Avalanche, Phoenix Coyotes, New York Rangers, Florida Panthers and Washington Capitals. After leaving the NHL in 2013, Wolski continued his career in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), playing for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Kunlun Red Star.

A professional player for nearly 10 seasons, Scott saw National Hockey League (NHL) action with the Minnesota Wild, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, San Jose Sharks, Buffalo Sabres, Arizona Coyotes and Montreal Canadiens. Scott was born in Edmonton, Alberta, but grew up in St. Catharines, Ontario. He graduated from Michigan Technological University in 2006.

The 2014 NHL Heritage Classic was an outdoor regular season National Hockey League (NHL) game held indoor, part of the Heritage Classic series of outdoor NHL ice hockey games in Canada. It took place on March 2, 2014, in BC Place in Vancouver, with the Ottawa Senators facing off against the home team Canucks. It is the first "outdoor" game to be played in what technically is an indoor stadium, albeit one of a larger capacity than a typical NHL arena; BC Place is a retractable roof venue, and it is unknown if the stadium has the capabilities to keep its roof open during inclement weather. The game was televised nationally in Canada on CBC and nationally in the United States on NBCSN.

NHL First Timer is a web series created by Pasha Eshghi and Paul Bissonnette in collaboration with the NHL. The series is hosted by Bissonnette, who takes people from all walks of life to their first NHL games with the goal of converting them into hockey fans. The series is part of a new initiative by the NHL which aims to tap into the Generation Z demographic by creating digital content in-house that is catered to social media needs. The first season of the series is slated for 5 episodes.

Spittin' Chiclets is an ice hockey podcast airing once a week produced by Barstool Sports. It is hosted by former National Hockey League players, Paul "Biz Nasty" Bissonnette and Ryan Whitney as well as hockey blogger Brian "Rear Admiral" McGonagle. The podcast debuted on October 14, 2016, and has since become the most popular hockey podcast in the world. The success of the podcast has led to Bissonnette becoming a contributor for the NHL on TNT, Whitney becoming a contributor for NHL Network and the creation of Big Deal Brewing by Labatt Brewing Company, and Pink Whitney Vodka by New Amsterdam which has annual sales of over 100 million dollars.
