Pasupathy (born 18 May 1969) is an Indian actor. He appeared in critically acclaimed roles in many noted films in Tamil cinema, playing supporting, antagonistic, comedic as well as protagonistic roles. He has won a Tamil Nadu State Film Award and Two Filmfare Awards South.
His performance in E (2006) earned him a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Supporting Actor. He also won an ITFA Best Supporting Actor Award for his role in Kuselan (2008). He has also appeared in Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada films.
Pasupathy Masilamani was born on 18 May 1969 [1] at Vannandurai, a northern neighbourhood Chennai, India. In 1984, he joined the Chennai-based theatre group "Koothu-P-Pattarai" where he was there till 1997. [2] He studied and grew up there till he started to act in films. He became friends with actor Nassar who was in the film institute and later joined the Koothu-P-Pattarai.
When he was working in Marudhanayagam , Nassar asked him whether he was interested in films. Pasupathy was then introduced to Kamal Haasan and he was given the villain role in Marudhanayagam. Pasupathy stated "That was the first time I was before the camera". [2] Marudhanayagam was shelved and Nasser's Mayan which he was also part of was his first release. [2]
He got his first major recognised role in Virumaandi as Kothaala Thevar. [3] He later began appearing in negative roles in a number of films such as Dhool , Sullan , Madhurey and Thirupaachi . He later branched out into comedy with Mumbai Xpress and Majaa . His first lead role was in the National Film Award winning film Veyyil . He further played lead roles in Raman Thediya Seethai , in which he appeared as a blind radio jockey, and Kuselan in which he was seen as a village barber. In Aravaan , a period-based action drama, he played Kombhoodhi, the warrior head of a village in the 18th century, for which he had trained at the gym for six months. [4]
His role as Annachi in the 2013 Tamil film Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara won critical accolades. He acted in an independent English film called The Last Vision, film made by youngsters from Kerala for festivals. [4] In 2014, Pasupathy played Aditya Karikalan in a theatrical adaptation of Ponniyin Selvan . [5]

Kamal Haasan is an Indian actor, film director, film producer, screenwriter, choreographer, playback singer, lyricist, television presenter, social activist and politician who works mainly in Tamil cinema. Besides Tamil, he has also appeared in some Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali films. Considered as one of the finest actors in Indian cinema, Haasan is also known for introducing many new film technologies and film making techniques to the Indian film industry. He has won numerous accolades, including Four National Film Awards, Nine Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, Four Nandi Awards, One Rashtrapati Award, Two Filmfare Awards and 17 Filmfare Awards South. He was awarded the Kalaimamani Award in 1984, the Padma Shri in 1990, the Padma Bhushan in 2014 and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Chevalier) in 2016.
Shivaji Rao Gaikwad, known professionally as Rajinikanth is an Indian actor who works predominantly in Tamil cinema. Kailasam Balachandar was an Indian playwright, film director, film producer, screenwriter and actor who worked mainly in the Tamil cinema. He was well known for his distinct film-making style, and the Indian film industry knew him as a master of unconventional themes and hard-hitting contemporary subject matter. Balachander's films are well known for their portrayal of women as bold personalities and central characters. Popularly referred to as Iyakkunar Sigaram, his films are usually centred on unusual or complicated interpersonal relationships and social themes. He started his film career in 1964 as a screenwriter and graduated to a director with Neerkumizhi (1965).

Virumaandi is a 2004 Indian Tamil-language action drama film written, co-edited, produced, and directed by Kamal Haasan, who also performed in the title role. The cast also includes Pasupathy, Napoleon, Abhirami, Rohini, Shanmugarajan and Nassar in pivotal roles. The film's score and soundtrack were composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The film won critical acclaim and was a commercial success at the box office. It also marked Abhirami's last film before her marriage and Rohini’s comeback film after an 8-year hiatus from acting.
Marudhanayagam is an unfinished Indian historical drama film directed and produced by Kamal Haasan under his Raaj Kamal Films International banner. The script was co-written by Haasan, along with novelist Sujatha, and the pair started work on the project in late 1991. Following a test shoot in mid-1997, the film was officially launched at a ceremony held at MGR Film City, Chennai during October 1997.

Kuselan is a 2008 Indian Tamil-language dramedy film directed by P. Vasu. An official remake of the Malayalam film Kadha Parayumbol (2007), it was produced by Pushpa Kandaswamy, Aswani Dutt and G. P. Vijayakumar in two languages. Kuselan stars Rajinikanth in an extended guest appearance with Pasupathy and Meena. It also stars Vadivelu and Livingston in supporting roles. The film was simultaneously made in Telugu as Kathanayakudu.
Padma Shri Na Muthuswamy was the art director of Tamil folk theatre group Koothu-P-Pattarai, which is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu in South India.
