Patrick "Pat" McGrath (born 1953) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a midfielder for the Waterford senior team. [1]

Born in Waterford, McGrath first made an impression on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he linked up with the Waterford minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He joined the senior panel for the 1970 championship. McGrath went on to play a key role for Waterford for sixteen years, however, he enjoyed little success during his inter-county career. He was a Munster runner-up on two occasions.

As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team at various times throughout his career, McGrath won two Railway Cup medals. At club level he is a seven-time championship medallist with Mount Sion.

Throughout his career McGrath made 16 championship appearances for Waterford. His retirement came following the conclusion of the 1986 championship.

McGrath's sons, Eoin and Ken, also played with Waterford. [2]

On 2 April 2014 McGrath was inducted into the GAA Hall of Fame. [3]

Ballygunner GAA

Ballygunner GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located in the parish of St Mary's Ballygunner in Waterford City, Ireland. The club is exclusively concerned with hurling. The club is one of the most successful in Waterford with a number of county titles and have produced many great players for Waterford such as Paul Flynn, Fergal Hartley, Billy O'Sullivan, and Pauric Mahony. The club enjoys an intense rivalry with city club Mount Sion and for many years through the 1990s and 2000s, the two clubs dominated the county scene in Waterford meeting each other in the county final most years. Since 1992, Ballygunner have won many county titles. The Munster Senior title was first won in 2001 with a victory over Cork side Blackrock.

Séamus Power (Waterford hurler) Irish hurler

Séamus Power is an Irish retired sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Mount Sion and was a member of the Waterford senior inter-county team in the 1950s and 1960s. He first appeared in a Waterford jersey when he played at full-forward for the Waterford minor hurling team defeated by Cork in 1946 and he first played for the senior team in 1949 against Limerick when he came on as a substitute for Davy Power. He was playing for the Roscrea club at that time as he was working there for the Post Office.

Richard "Dickie" Roche was an Irish hurler who played as a goalkeeper for the Waterford senior team.
