Women's golf has a set of major championships, a series of tournaments designated to be of a higher status than other tournaments. Five tournaments are currently designated as 'majors' in women's golf by the LPGA.
Pat Bradley is an American professional golfer. She became a member of the LPGA Tour in 1974 and won 31 tour events, including six major championships. She is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Patty Sheehan is an American professional golfer. She became a member of the LPGA Tour in 1980 and won six major championships and 35 LPGA Tour events in all. She is a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.

The J Golf Phoenix LPGA International, in full the J Golf Phoenix LPGA International Presented by Mirassou Winery, was a women's professional golf tournament in Arizona on the LPGA Tour. Founded as the "Sun City Classic" in 1980, it was held annually in the Phoenix area through 2009, making it one of the longest-lasting events on the LPGA Tour.
The Mercury Titleholders Championship was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1990 to 1999. It was played at three different courses in Florida. The event was separate from the Titleholders Championship, a former major championship on the LPGA Tour, and also from the CME Group Titleholders, which will become the final official event of the LPGA season starting in 2011.

The LPGA Skins Game was an unofficial-money golf tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1990 to 2003. It was played at the Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, Texas from 1990 to 1998 and at the Wailea Golf Club in Wailea, Hawaii in 2003.
The HealthSouth Inaugural was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1980 to 1999. It was played at several courses in Florida. HealthSouth Corporation sponsored the event from 1993 to 1999.
The Sara Lee Classic was a golf tournament on the LPGA Tour from 1988 to 2002. It was played at Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tennessee from 1988 to 1999. In 2000, the tournament moved to the Legends Club of Tennessee in Franklin, Tennessee and changed its name to the Electrolux USA Championship. The tournament was hosted by singers Vince Gill and Amy Grant in its final three years.
