She also serves as the national committeewoman for the Republican Party of American Samoa. Amata is the first woman to represent American Samoa in the U.S. Congress.
Young Oak Kim is a South Korean-born American politician and businesswoman serving as the U.S. representative for California's 40th congressional district,previously representing the 39th congressional district from 2021 to 2023. Her district includes northern parts of Orange County. In the 2020 United States House of Representatives elections,Kim,Michelle Park Steel,and Marilyn Strickland became the first three Korean-American women elected to the United States Congress. Kim and Steel are also the first Korean-Americans elected to Congress from California since Jay Kim.

She was elected as part of a Democratic wave in Orange County flipping the 45th district. In 2022,she was reelected in the 47th congressional district following redistricting. In 2023,Porter announced her candidacy for the U.S. Senate,forgoing reelection to the House of Representatives. She was defeated after failing to advance from the nonpartisan primary won by Adam Schiff and Steve Garvey.
The 2022 West Virginia Senate elections were held on November 8,2022,and elected 17 of the chamber's 34 members. This coincided with elections in the House of Delegates,and the election of West Virginia's two representatives. Following the 2020 census,this was the first West Virginia Senate election held after redistricting. Primary elections were held on May 10,2022.
