Thomas Eugene Lovejoy III was an American ecologist who was President of the Amazon Biodiversity Center,a Senior Fellow at the United Nations Foundation and a university professor in the Environmental Science and Policy department at George Mason University. Lovejoy was the World Bank's chief biodiversity advisor and the lead specialist for environment for Latin America and the Caribbean as well as senior advisor to the president of the United Nations Foundation. In 2008,he also was the first Biodiversity Chair of the H. John Heinz III Center for Science,Economics and the Environment to 2013. Previously he served as president of the Heinz Center since May 2002. Lovejoy introduced the term biological diversity to the scientific community in 1980. He was a past chair of the Scientific Technical Advisory Panel (STAP) for the Global Environment Facility (GEF),the multibillion-dollar funding mechanism for developing countries in support of their obligations under international environmental conventions.

Asa Lawrence Lovejoy was an American pioneer and politician in the region that would become the U.S. state of Oregon. He is best remembered as a founder of the city of Portland,Oregon. He was an attorney in Boston,Massachusetts before traveling by land to Oregon;he was a legislator in the Provisional Government of Oregon,mayor of Oregon City,and a general during the Cayuse War that followed the Whitman massacre in 1847. He was also a candidate for Provisional Governor in 1847,before the Oregon Territory was founded,but lost that election.
Lovejoy High School is a public high school in Lucas,Texas,in south-central Collin County. It is the only high school in the Lovejoy Independent School District and is classified as 5A by the University Interscholastic League (UIL). The school serves most of the cities of Lucas and Fairview,as well as a small portion of Allen. Students from outside the district may transfer to Lovejoy High School for a tuition fee. Until the Fall of 2006,all high school students zoned in Lovejoy ISD attended nearby Allen High School. Lovejoy graduated its first senior class in 2010. Deering was a city in Cumberland County,Maine which was incorporated in 1871 and annexed by the neighboring City of Portland in 1899. Until 1871,Deering was a part of Saccarappa,which also included what is now neighboring Westbrook. In that year,the towns split with little opposition. The 1880 United States Census counted 4,324 residents of the newly formed town. In 1892,Deering was incorporated as a city. In 1899,Deering was annexed by Portland,becoming the northern neighborhoods of the city.

Charles Turner Torrey was a leading American abolitionist. Although largely lost to historians until recently,Torrey pushed the abolitionist movement to more political and aggressive strategies,including setting up one of the first highly organized lines for the Underground Railroad and personally freeing approximately 400 slaves. Torrey also worked closely with free blacks,thus becoming one of the first to consider them partners. John Brown cited Torrey as one of the three abolitionists he looked to as models for his own efforts.
The 2020 New Hampshire gubernatorial election was held on November 3,2020,to elect the governor of New Hampshire. Incumbent Republican Governor Chris Sununu was re-elected to a third two-year term in office,defeating his opponent Dan Feltes,the Majority Leader of the Senate. Nine governors ran for re-election in this cycle and all nine were re-elected. Sununu's win marked the first time since 1986 that a Republican was elected to a third term as governor,in which year his father,John H. Sununu was reelected for his third and final term.
