Enugu is the capital of Enugu State in Nigeria. It is located in southeastern Nigeria. The city had a population of 820,000 according to the 2022 Nigerian census. The name Enugu is derived from the two Igbo words ÉnúỤ́gwụ́,meaning "hill top",denoting the city's hilly geography.

Lejja is a community comprising 33 villages in Enugu State of South-Eastern Nigeria. It is populated by the Igbo people and located about 14 Kilometers from Nsukka. It is the location of a prehistoric archaeological site which contains iron smelting furnaces and slag dated to 2000 BC. The village square at Otobo ugwu which is likely the first village square in lejja contains over 800 blocks of slag with an average weight of between 34 and 57 kg. Geophysical investigations have Located buried iron slag in several other locations in the community.

He was a member of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for 12 years. He is a member of People's Democratic Party (PDP) who re-presented Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constinuency of Enugu State. Ugwuanyi was elected the Governor of Enugu State under the PDP. He was sworn in as the governor of Enugu State for a second tenure on May 29,2019.

Valerian Maduka Okeke is a Nigerian prelate who serves as the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha,and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province. He was born in Umudioka,Anambra State and ordained to the priesthood on 11 July 1981 by cardinal Francis Arinze,who was then the Archbishop of Onitsha. After his ordination,he worked as a parish vicar at Holy Trinity Cathedral,Onitsha,under Emmanuel Otteh. Valerian Okeke later served as parish priest of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows' Parish,Umuoji.

The 2023 Enugu State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 March 2023,to elect the Governor of Enugu State,concurrent with elections to the Enugu State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. Incumbent PDP Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
