The equestrian events at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich included show jumping, dressage and eventing. All three disciplines had both individual and team competitions. Pablo Montes Casanova was a Cuban sprinter. His career highlight came in 1968 as he, together with Hermes Ramírez, Juan Morales, and Enrique Figuerola, won an Olympic silver medal in 4 x 100 metres relay. He is a Republican former member of the Louisiana State Senate, having served a single term from 1996 to 2000.
