Patrizia Di Paolo is an Italian musician and stage director.

Performance

Patrizia Di Paolo has performed as principal viola in the European Community Chamber orchestra, the Rai Orchestra in Milan, the Toscanini Orchestra in Parma, Bologna City Theatre and the Teatro La Fenice in Venice. [1]

She currently plays viola in the Venetian ensemble Musica a Palazzo . [2]

Productions

In 2005 Di Paolo oversaw the direction of all the grand operas presented in Venice by Musica a Palazzo in the Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto in Venice . [3]

In 2007 she oversaw the direction of La Traviata presented at the Royal Pavilion for the 41st Brighton International Festival” (UK). The production received The Argus press award for the best production of the Festival. [4] [5] [6]

In 2008 she directed the “Barbiere di Siviglia” at the Potsdam International Festival in Germany.

In 2012 she directed “Rigoletto” at Teatro comunale in Ferrara. [7] [8] [9]

In 2013 she directed “Rigoletto” at Teatro comunale in Treviso. [10]

Musica a Palazzo, since 2005, have produced opera performances staged in the Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto, a Venetian Gothic palace facing the Grand Canal. The piano nobile of the palace, with its backdrop of frescoes by Tiepolo and sculptures by Carpoforo Tencalla, is its main performing space. The performing style follows the 19th-century Italian practice of "Salotto Musicale". The operas are performed without a stage, with the audience becoming part of the scene.

Michele Mariotti, born in 1979 in Urbino, near Pesaro, is an Italian conductor, the direttore musicale since 2014 of Teatro Comunale di Bologna. A graduate in composition of Pesaro's Conservatorio Rossini, where he also studied orchestral conducting, he made his professional opera debut with Il barbiere di Siviglia in Salerno on Oct. 12, 2005. As of April 2017, his repertory included nine Rossini and eight Verdi operas, an extraordinary achievement, as well as symphonies of Beethoven, Bruckner and Schubert, the Rossini Stabat mater, the Mozart Requiem and the Verdi Requiem.
