A marina is a dock or basin with moorings and supplies for yachts and small boats. A marina differs from a port in that a marina does not handle large passenger ships or cargo from freighters.
The word dock in American English refers to one or a group of human-made structures that are involved in the handling of boats or ships. In British English, the term is not used the same way as in American English, it is used to mean the area of water that is next to or around a wharf or quay. The exact meaning varies among different variants of the English language.

After the Port of Felixstowe, Southampton is the second largest container terminal in UK, with a handled traffic of 1.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU). It also handles cruise ships, roll-on roll-off, dry bulk, and liquid bulk.
Dubai Maritime City (DMC) is a multipurpose maritime zone. It is a member of the DP World group of companies. Maritime city was expected to be fully operational by 2012, and by January 2021 had completed 80% of the first phase's infrastructure works. In February 2022 it was announced that DP World would launch a major project to develop DMC's infrastructure at a cost of Dh140 million. The industrial part of Dubai Maritime City is fully operational, with a large number of business partners operating from DMC. The industrial precinct is active and consists of marine services primarily dealing with ship lifts, ship repair plots, warehouses, workshops, as well as supporting retail and showrooms.
The Port of Cleveland is a bulk freight and container shipping port at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River on Lake Erie in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. It is the third-largest port in the Great Lakes and the fourth-largest Great Lakes port by annual tonnage. Over 20,000 jobs and $3.5 billion in annual economic activity are tied to the roughly 13 million tons of cargo that move through Cleveland Harbor each year.
Oak Harbor Marina is located in Oak Harbor, Washington, between metropolitan Seattle and the San Juan Islands. The marina was built in 1974 and expanded its guest moorage in 1988 with the installation of the floating breakwater. Income from the marina goes into a city enterprise fund dedicated to the facility's operation and maintenance. It is a 420-boat facility with 217 open and 135 covered permanent slips, 52 guest moorage slips, ample side-tie moorage and 96 dry storage. The boat mix is 40% sailboats and 60% powerboats, ranging in size from 24 feet (7.3 m) up to 50 feet. Twenty-five vessels are liveaboards.
Cedar Island Marina, located on Long Island Sound in Clinton, Connecticut, United States, is a boatyard with 400 slips. It was operating at 94 percent of capacity in 1995, with many transient visitors filling slips vacated when home-port vessels were away. Three boats are year-round "live-aboards". Boat sizes range from less than 21 feet (6.4 m) to 120 feet (37 m), with 76 percent between 21 and 35 feet (11 m) and 19 percent longer than that; 35 percent are sailboats. In addition to slips, the marina has retail services—a ship's store carrying groceries, ice, bait and tackle, a used-boat brokerage, a fuel dock and a pumpout. Launching and haul-out are available with a 30-ton travel lift and a "giraffe" crane for indoor and outdoor winter boat storage. Repair services include fiberglass, hull and engine repair; painting; sail-rigging; sail-making; welding and metal fabrication; and boat-bottom cleaning.
The Port of Odesa or Odesa Sea Port, located near Odesa, is the largest Ukrainian seaport and one of the largest ports in the Black Sea basin, with a total annual traffic capacity of 40 million tonnes, the only port of Ukraine capable of accepting Panamax class vessels. The port has an immediate access to railways allowing quick transfer of cargo from sea routes to ground transportation. Along with its younger satellite ports of Chornomorsk (1958) and Yuzhne (1973), the Port of Odesa is a major freight and passenger transportation hub of Ukraine.
Trafalgar Wharf is a shipyard in Portsmouth accommodating marine engineering businesses ranging from sailmakers and boat brokers to boat builders. It was formerly the VT Halmatic shipyard, owned by VT Group and latterly by BVT Surface Fleet. In November 2023 the site was acquired by Premier Marinas who also operate Port Solent marina opposite.
A berth is a designated location in a port or harbour used for mooring vessels when they are not at sea. Berths provide a vertical front which allows safe and secure mooring that can then facilitate the unloading or loading of cargo or people from vessels.
The Santa Cruz Small Craft Harbor is situated in Santa Cruz, California, on the site of the former Woods Lagoon. Built in 1962–1963, its public use specializes in boating and extracurricular marine activities for the local community and visitors. The harbor straddles the city limits which runs down the center of Arana Gulch; the west side of the harbor is in Santa Cruz's Seabright neighborhood while the east is in unincorporated Santa Cruz County.
Paradip Port is a natural, deep-water port on the East coast of India in Paradip, just 53 km (33 mi) from Jagatsinghpur city in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, India. It is at the confluence of the Mahanadi river and the Bay of Bengal, 210 nmi south of Kolkata and 260 nmi north of Visakhapatnam.

Dobson Yacht Club (DYC) is a private yacht club based in Westmount, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Dobson Yacht Club sits on the western shore of the South Arm of Sydney Harbour, directly opposite the Sydney downtown area, part of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality. Its location on the chart is shown as Dobson's Point, formerly known as Shingle Point.
Reed Point Marina is an 800-berth marina in British Columbia, Canada. Reed Point Marina has an onsite yacht broker, [casual dining restaurant], full repairs, fuel dock and 24-hour security. It is situated 2.5 kilometres (1.6 mi) away from Port Moody, 26 kilometres (16 mi) from Vancouver and five minutes from Indian Arm. Reed Point Marina is also involved in marine research. The marina has donated dock space to study Steller sea lions. The research project began in 1993 and the lead investigators include Drs. Andrew Trites and David Rosen from the University of British Columbia.
